p.s. Yes Nicole I have an accent and so do you! It depends on which side of the table you’re sitting. I grew up in a British colony and schooled in British schools which is why I have a British accent and write British English. But I am not a Brit. I’m Dutch and have Dutch parents who speak and spoke with thick Dutch accents. But my brother lives in London and I visit frequently.

I have one word to describe the concert last night. BRILLIANT. It’s the best concert I have EVER been too for a multitude of reasons, the first being that the sound quality was outstanding. We had seats close to the front and I saw Simon in all his glory. The act was flawlessly executed and I’m speechless.

Duran Duran is hands down the most stylishly dressed pop group in the world. They always have been and I make no excuses for being very biased. These blokes are approaching 50 ( Simon le Bon turns 50 in October) and they are phenomenal. They stick to black and white on stage which is very effective. There were hints of red in their outfits this time because they were promoting their new album “Red Carpet Massacre”. They came out wearing black denim Nehru suits with white shirts, skinny black ties and black Doc Marten boots. The pants were skinny and the white shirts had airbrushed black and red designs on them. Belts were studded and peroxided hair ruled the show. Half way through they changed into shiny black sateen suits, glittery black shirts, black skinny leather ties and fashion sneakers. Superb! I am not doing their look justice.

The audience was older, generally 30-45 year olds bopping away in stands. In true Seattle fashion the crowds consisted of Punks, Goths and polar fleece wearing North Westerners. It was a magical evening and I did not want it to end.

Ha, I had the same thing Ana! Being an 80's baby is something I hold very dear to my heart. Growing up in the 90's was a bit lame, but being a child in the 80's was crazy fun. The toys and cartoons were as gaudy and over-the-top as the synthesized music and fashion.

I remember plastic pumps. I remember frat boys drinking beer out of my red plastic pumps, then having to walk home with sticky feet.

I graduated high school in 1983. You'll love this anecdote: in 6th grade I dressed in bell bottom jeans. In 7th grade, suddenly bell bottom jeans were "out." My mom refused to buy me new jeans until I grew out of my bell bottoms. That is when I learned to sew!! I tailored all my disco jeans into skinnies.

For most of high school, however, I dressed preppy. Right out of the Preppy Handbook, button down shirt with sweater tied around my neck and docksiders... except maybe for the blue eyeshadow and Farrah Fawcett wings. Oddly enough, most of my friends were punks, purple hair, leather jackets, stud collars.

College I got a poodle perm, then later I ended up with a flock of seagulls haircut or maybe it was more like a Pat Benatar cut - some spiky thing, really short, ears cut out - total disaster.

I think I was a fashion disaster in college. I do remember sewing up a neon mini-dress and wearing it with a wide white hip belt. That was my going out outfit.

Ack, and I remember shoulder pads. Huge ones.

And stirrup pants. I refuse to wear tights (except with boots).

I went to my 20th college reunion awhile back, and was voted "most improved." I was told over and over I looked so classy. The funny part was I kept getting asked if I'd had breast implants (NO). The reason? Because I'd learned how to dress to show off my figure. Back then, there was no such thing as petite clothing, the styles were all about volume, and clothes were always humungous on me, and hid my figure.

Have a great time at your concert!!!!

Maya--My Little Ponies rock! I had the Pretty Pony Stable!

I love Duran Duran. I'd wear those black skinny jeans with the zippered ankles, and some hot pink pumps and an oversized/off-the-shoulder Duran Duran T-shirt with a studded belt. Teased size ponytail, and hot pink lipstick to match my shoes, lol. Have a blast tonight, Angie!

I shall Shannon and thank you! You are of that "age group" and remember the days of Rio, Girls on Film and Save a Prayer when you were a teenybopper. I shudder to think what I wore back then ( in fact we started a thread on what we wore in the 80’s a few months ago and it was a scream). Those styles are retro for younger gals today and I enjoy watching them enjoy it.

I actually wear the clothes that I’m wearing tonight all the time! It’s back in fashion only this time with style (although my wardrobe is NEVER without some form of black biker jacket. The ‘80’s girl is alive and kicking). Love the idea of your rebellious outfit. Fabulous!

Oh and I would definitely tease the hell out of my hair. Wasn't orange lipstick a big thing in the 80's? For some reason I have memories of that. I think I'd draw the line there, but I think I'm young enough to do some sparkle on the eyes for sure.

omg, I was just a baby in the 80's but I LOVE DURAN DURAN. I am so jealous of your entire evening!

I don't know exactly what I would wear. I certainly cannot wear what I wore in the 80's unless a My Little Pony shirt is acceptable. I went to an 80's party in December and wore my white slouchy ankle boots with gray leggings, chartreuse belted mini dress, and chunky purple beaded necklace that I stole from mom. I don't think I have anything quite edgy enough to top it off though. Your biker jacket makes it!

Interesting that you're getting hubby all dressed up in skinnies (I need to find a hubby that I can use as a paper doll). My ex-bf is ultra super slim and wore skinnies last time I saw him and I just thought it looked uncomfortable and made him look even skinnier. But I know nothing of men's fashion....yet!

If all of my teenybopper crushes hadn't already broken up or died, I would look forward to seeing them again later in life =\ The 90's wasn't a very positive time for music, was it?

I'm so jealous! They are not coming to my town. Isn't this their first stop? I loved loved loved Duran Duran! Nick Rhodes was my favorite though. Simon was in close second. How fun for you!

Let's see what would I wear........I barely remember my wardrobe back them, but one thing I did wear a lot was this over sized sweatshirt with huge black slash marks all over it. I think the thing hung almost to my knees. Acid wash skinny ankle length jeans with some awful bright socks. My jeans would probably be tucked inside of them. Can't remember what shoe I would have been wearing. My hair would be teased beyond belief maybe with a headband. Guess that is what I would have worn back then. If I went now it would be the same thing minus the sweatshirt. I would probably replace that with a torn up mesh shirt with my bra showing. You know, like Madonna. My Mother would not let me wear that in the 80's so I would choose that for the concert now. Rebellious!

Winkle–pickers are also known as "Lady Di's". Does that ring a bell? They’re what you refer to in America as “pumps”, but the very 80's kind - pointy and plastic looking. Mine aren’t plastic looking though since I have a stylish reputation to protect!

Now you’re into this 80’s revival thing as much as I am, Antje! We love it! It doesn’t get better than British ‘80’s music. I’m very happily stuck there, if I can throw in Eddie Vedder from time to time!

I’m off to see Duran Duran for the third time tonight and I am WILDLY excited. Simon le Bon was my teenybopper crush and it was a hard day when he married supermodel Yasmine instead. In true retro fashion I’m sporting black and cream skinnies, black biker jacket, heeled winkle-pickers and fabulous red retro Duran Duran sling bag that was gifted to me at their last concert. I’m putting hubby in skinny grey jeans, Converse and a top of his choice (which will probably be black). I might add a Duran Duran pin that was Greg’s (the real thing from 1984) if I can find it. I’m leaving the pearls at home and going plastic and kitsch instead. No blue eye shadow though – I’m drawing the line at 80’s makeup.

I hope to see loads of 80’s flashbacks tonight. What would you wear if you went to see Duran Duran?
