I don't think the sweater will go out of style but your tastes may change. So wear them while you love them, all three of them!

I like that sweater, too. I'm no style prophet, but it seems like a basic enough style that it should still be fine next year.

Gosh. I love the cut of that sweater. I am not surprised you duplicated. It looks like a potential workhorse.

I have enjoyed the several posts on Duplicating--different ways and pros and cons.

I had thought I needed to be careful not to dupe too much or I might not be prepared to branch out to new things (time, effort, $$).

Also I had thought I had probably had as many AT labels as any one person ought to have--I never intended to be focused there; it had just seemed like a good year, color-wise and fit-wise.

But then I found this sweater. I didn't even give it a second glance on-line but tried one on in the store (would not have known it was the "wedge sweater".)

I got the plum and found, wow, this goes with almost every skirt and with a lot of pants. It is not banded, so I don't get love bandles, much, and it kind of slides. It is short enough for skirts but just long enough for some pants, if not too low-rise. The semi-boatneck is good and not so wide for strappage issues.

Then I layered a black shirt under, because I have one, and it bookends with black tights and shoes (this looked good with leopard-flower skirt and gives another dimension to de-bombshelling) and found, wow, this layers much better than any other pullover I've tried. Something about the neckline being easier and the boxy fit---I don't feel choked or bunchy. And the look is somehow different-- typical crewnecks look frumpy-prep over shirts, on me.

Layering a shirt under sweater is not an essential goal, but it's something I've kept trying but been frustrated at due to discomfort. It has been a goal to get different looks, and to use bits of certain colors --an attempt at being creative and re-mixing. Plus warmth, at times.

Sooooo... I ordered it in gray AND black. All of this on a special sale so it could be "sales goggles". The gray is "my" gray. The black is, well, self-explanatory.

The pro is that the different colors, though all dark of course, do give dffferent looks with different bottoms. The con is that the one plum sweater might have been the main "workhorse" with goal of wearing many times in one season and now will be diluted, or, maybe I would not have worn it once a week but will wear one of the 3 almost once a week. I'm still tempted to keep.

Another funny thing is that they're like the 3 bears. The plum fits a certain way that seems the most "right". The gray in same size is a tad roomier; the black is the tiniest bit less. Weird but I don't think I will go to trouble to re-order.

Will I be so over this sweater next year ? Am I still learning lessons about what to duplicate and what not? Do you have good or bad experiences to share?
