Oh tough one. But I'm another one for trying to wait it out. Feet change so much before and after pregnancy that I'm not sure I'd make the gamble or spend the money. But soooo exciting that you'll be holding your new little one in such a short time

Wow. This is really tough. I found myself nodding along with contradictory responses. I don't know what to think!

I guess, ultimately, it's down to whether you can stand six weeks of boredom with your footwear. I probably would, in the hope of getting something more fun after the baby is born, particularly since the Danskos really don't work for you post-pregnancy.

Oh -- here's a thought -- what about e-bay for a cheaper pair of Danskos?

Congratulations! I hope the pregnancy is treating you kindly. I'd make do with the pair you have. It's only for a number of weeks. Clogs are perfect to wear with swollen feet in pregnancy and there is nothing to say, that your feet may swell more in this last trimester. Return the other shoes. After the birth the swelling will disperse quite quickly....reward yourself then and buy some nice new shoes.

I'd duplicate them. I had shoulder surgery earlier in the year and got down to one pair of shoes that I could wear because my dominate arm was immobilized for 6 weeks and I couldn't tie my shoes. I ended up buying a pair of shoes via zappos a few days post surgery once I realized that I needed a second pair of mary janes with velcro closures. I would have gone nuts wearing one pair of shoes for 6 weeks. Also, I was already feeling a little less than fab between the immobilizer and the wardrobe restrictions; the second pair of shoes gave me a little bit of control and variety.

Could you order some booties in a wide size from Zappos to try? After the baby comes maybe you can still wear them with socks. It is a shame to have to spend money on something you may not use for long. I didn't have swelling feet but my feet gained a whole size in length with pregnancy that didn't change back.

Suja and AG, I bought a pair of Danskos and had to give them away almost immediately when I fell off them sideways twice, on the same ankle that had already been seriously sprained twice.

Thistle, I would probably duplicate if it were at all affordable. I would trade not going crazy with monotony for longevity or for more options later.

Oh, darn, Thistle! Having swollen feet is such a pain.
It seems like it would make sense to just buy something really cheap since you'll only need them for 6 weeks, but only having the Danskos is probably not enough.
The good news is that this will all be over in 6 weeks and 3 days at the most, and you'll have your beautiful new baby!

First, congrats on seeing the happy end result coming closer.

I'd have trouble wearing the exact same shoe everyday, now that your sandals are out (except for perhaps with socks, indoors at home--but then I'd be in mooshie slippers).
JAileen has it--if you could get a good deal, you'd probably not feel too conflicted. Because it sounds like anything you get you won't use again. So is that Crocs or some other wide slip-on that isn't realistically expected to be too fashionable, for the final stretch!

Would you buy something for a vacation that you might never use again? If so then you should get another pair of clogs. Have you looked at Sierra Trading Post? They might be less than other places.

Hard question, Thistle! You could use the money from your returned shoes to get the Danskos, but the returned shoes were planned for post-pregnancy wear, too, weren't they? If so, you could save the money and re-buy them or whatever your feet want to wear after you have the baby. Part of me also says, heck, buy a pair of croc or silver Danskos if it will make you smile when you dress for the next six weeks and three days!

So, I am having a c-section in 6 weeks and 3 days (but who is counting?).

I am not planning to buy winter boots or a jacket. I have a fall coat that doesn't exactly fit perfectly, but if I let it ride up a bit, I can zip it.

Right now, the Danskos and my sandals are all my feet will permit. They are swollen, and have grown half a size as well as "spread".

I can only wear Danskos when pregnant, otherwise, they are too wide to be comfortable and I walk right out of them.

I don't think booties will work. The issue is across the toes and the joints. I need a wide toe box that will fit swollen feet covered in socks. And it has to be a slip on as reaching my feet to fuss with buckles or what not is a hassle.

How much longer do you have to go?

If three plus months I would try and find a second pair of shoes, duplicates if necessary. If less than six weeks I would not worry, and buy something cool flat and casual for life with a new baby.

I lived in slider type shoes in the latter part of my pregnancies...it was summer...I do recall getting so sick of everything I wore. My trick to make me feel more fashionable was a couple of necklaces and funky pedicures.

I tend to fall off my Danskos too. I would just stick it out unless you love them anyway abd will be wearing them for a long time afterward. I guess I expect longevity from footwear. They are not cheap and you will have more money for fun post preggo stuff. When I was pregnant I wore the same few things all the time, like a style endurance event. Had I seen Natalie and DayVies and other Fabbers, that may have been different!

Can you wear short ankle boots? That might be a solution as I think they have the most "give" since you can adjust the thickness of the socks as your feet swell and go back to normal.

I have finicky feet in general and am happiest in booties if I cannot wear sneakers.

Ugh! Shoes and pregnancy are a miserable combination! I had severe edema with my first and could only fit into men's sandals with Velcro straps. They were huge! My friend called them my Air Jesus shoes. As you can imagine, I did not duplicate. But I could see duplicating your Danskos if you have many months to go to delivery or plan to become pregnant again. Otherwise I would stick that money in an envelope labelled mama's new shoes, and plan to buy yourself something fabulous for that frumpy and frustrating period after delivery. Which in my case usually lasts at least 18 months.

Tough call! I actually couldn't wear Danskos while pregnant because I slipped twice in them. Am I the only one who slips sideways at the ankle in those? I guess it would depend on how happy I thought it would make me and whether I thought I would wear them after pregnancy, even if just as house slippers. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Gosh, it's so hard to say. Being stuck wearing only one pair of shoes, even if it's temporary, sounds super-annoying.

So, I posted a pair of shoes a while back that were comfortable at the time and I thought I was keeping. I put them on this morning when my feet were swollen and sore, and they pinched. They are most likely going back as I have not yet actually worn them out of the house.

It is 7C or 45F today at lunch, so sandals are not going to cut it anymore.

The only shoes my feet would tolerate this morning were Dansko clogs. They are not the most office friendly shoe, but my work will just have to live with that. I can't have pinched feet.

I am trying to decide if I should duplicate in a croc print or silver shoes (something other than my basic black ones), or if I should keep looking. I will wear them through having the baby, and probably for a few months afterward as I will be recovering from a C-section. I kept my Danskos from my last pregnancy, but I never wore them much as I had a hard time keeping them on my feet a few months post partum.
