So I ordered the Avignons. But they're out of my size, so I won't get them for 6-8 weeks.

Medusa, this is exciting! I like all the boots they mentioned, especially the Avignon boots (which look like a very traditional riding boot). Please post pics when you get them!

Dashrashi, that's what I suspected about the disclaimer. I think I'll just order them.

Dawn, I'm glad you like them. They are beautiful, aren't they?

Julie, good point about possible zipper replacement. I'll think about that.

I would factor in the cost of replacing a zip, if required. I'm very envious, Duo boots are fab!

I have the Avignon boots and absolutely love them! I haven't worn them with orthotics or insoles in them though so I can't really comment on that.

No experience here, sorry, but wanted to put in my vote for the Orleans (of those four styles). Good luck!

(It does sound like Duo is just CYAing in case you do use the orthotics and it does damage the boots. It'd probably be fine, I'd bet.)

Has anyone worn insoles or orthotics in Duo boots?

I emailed them for advice about which styles would work best, and here was the reply:

"We do not recommend wearing insoles in our boots. Insoles may damage the zip or the leather. Of course, all of this depends on the height of the sole. However, out of the boots you mentioned, the Avignon and Ravenna boots would be the best to wear with orthotics. These other styles might be worth having a look at: Orleans and Malmo."

I think I'm going to go ahead and order them and risk the damage, but I wondered what people's experience here has been like.
