I measured him as per the size chart instructions and then went for the size closest to that. He wears a 34W 36L Jean and is kind of between a large and XL in shirts (he has mostly Old Navy casual clothes). This suit jacket is a 42 regular and the pants are 36W 34L. He has plenty of length in the pants, I knew from past experience buying DH's dress clothes that dress pants are generally longer than jeans going by inseam number.<br /> We are still waiting for a bright red shirt and white skinny tie, also picked out by him:-) He is not much into casual wear but he has an eye for nice things. I loved the whole thing, but that detail put it over the top for me. I totally agree with what you said about style goals at any age. I think it is the best thing ever to watch our children's personalities and preferences grow stronger. It's such a wonderful thing to watch their confidence grow when they wear something that makes them feel authentic. I so love giving that freedom of choice to my son. I also like the color of the tie with it. I'm so impressed that he wanted a suit. My son's version of dressing up is dark jeans and a tee that doesn't have words or pictures on it. He intends to wear it mostly for church and the odd special occasion. He was pretty pleased with how it all looked together (he helped pick out the suit and shirt) and wanted me to post it:-)<br /> Do you think the fit it okay? He's a fairly big boy and I'd never ordered a suit for him online. Actually, this is his first men's size suit. I thought we got pretty lucky on our first try.
