I don't know why but I'm automatically picturing metallics with this dress, especially gold. It needs some sort of sheen or texture. Even a more antique metal would look good.

I would NOT pair this dress with bright colors. This is an earthy, muted color and brights are just a totally unrelated color palette. Desert colors like deep muted reds, sunset oranges, and browns come to mind.

I think you need to add some pops of color to liven up the natural tone. Colorful jewelry perhaps? The dress would look cute with gladiator sandals as well.

The dress is a great neutral 'blank canvas' which would provide a great backdrop for some strong coloured statement jewellery x

A big welcome from me too Lin!
I like Julie's (RoseandJoan's) suggestions. I think medium blue or darker blue denim could both work with the colour of your dress really.

Other ideas:
- an even longer necklace or multi-strand
- a longer boyfriend cardigan or cascading cardigan
- a long Summer scarf with a pattern, possibly tied with the Angie knot:
http://youlookfab.com/2009/04/.....ngie-knot/
- cotton moto style vest

Thanks for your reply! Hmm denim vest...like a medium blue shade of denim? The shade of the dress is a khaki-ish light olive.

Welcome to the forum Vintagelace (I love your User name). You are right drop waist dresses can be trixty but I think your dress has potential. How about adding a cage sandal and denim vest or legging and a denim jacket?

I'm sure others will chime in soon. Angie is away on holiday at the moment so if you would like an expert opinion it may be worth bumping your thread when she returns.

Hello! I am new here, but have been reading the posts for a bit =) Anyhow, I bought this drop-waist dress today and am unsure of how to accessorize [besides bangles and long necklace]...wear a belt or not? I definitely think wearing a drop-waist style dress is a bit tricky, esp for my body type. How do I wear it to make me look less frumpy?
