These shorts look pretty odd to me too -- not baggy enough or haremy enough to look intentional, just like the model has an abnormally long rise. If I were going to embrace a dropped-crotch style, I would choose one with more drape or a more interesting shape. These kind of give the vibe that someone simply took a very standard pair of straight-cut shorts and elongated the rise to extreme proportion, and the effect is not one I find particularly appealing, even on a model. I would also wonder how uncomfortable they would be to walk in, because the cut is not particularly roomy and the fabric does't look drapey or flowy. Imagine how short these would make a normal human's legs look!
