It feels safer to me, as well, especially when I wear platforms. I have a pair of Crocs mary janes that don't look awful if I stop to run an errand and not change shoes. Sometimes carpet stores will sell sample pieces that are perfect for this purpose. My hubby custom made a mat for my Alfa convertible. ALL of my cars, even my hubby's Chevy Blazer have carpet mats.
