I DO seem to do better with a straighter cut, so that’s a good point. I’ve tried some of the wider cut styles and have not been pleased with the look for me. Greatly appreciate the suggestions!

Kathie, did you see this post:

https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....-road-test

Kyle, so I think you need a straighter cut with extra length. Have you tried the Boden Richmond pants?

https://www.bodenusa.com/en-us.....20trousers

Do not try Curvy fits!

I'd try Club Monaco, Scotch & Soda, and some of these too:

Angie- I thought you’d gotten them! I wish the red ones had come in the slightly more “crisp” fabric that you noted in the find. But, I needed an update for my black pants. (I put on a much worn, lower-waisted, full length pair yesterday and felt frumpy and out of date.) The BR near my office had these, and at 50% off, I grabbed them, and wore today with some higher shaft booties (in finds) and silver gray velvet denim jacket. I felt fab!!

Angie, I am a tall, long legged rectangle, but have put on about 10 lbs since retirement. It seems to have all settled in my lower abdomen and I am self conscious about how pants fit in that area and emphasize any bumps or bulges. Pockets have a tendency to either draw attention to that area or gape and pull, if that makes sense. I’m sure there are some flattering trousers out there for me, I just haven’t found them yet.

I got these yesterday, https://bananarepublic.gap.com.....ge-content. (On my phone, so no find.)

Love the drape, and I’m wearing them today. (Go Team Wear!) BR has two slightly different fabrications of this pant. Mine are 70% poly, 23% rayon, 7% Spandex, and they are machine washable (the website is wrong.) The version that’s 64% poly, 31% rayon and 5% spandex did not drape as well on my curvier hips (but does come in red and navy, in addition to black.)

Kyle, what fit challenge is happening the hip and pocket area? If I remember correctly, you are a tall and long legged rectangle? High hipped.

I'm wearing these today . (see find) They look good with boots, sneakers, and oxfords...although they are a stretch wool, which I see won't work for you. I prefer a looser pant to wear with sneakers: something with slouch and interest.

I've had pretty good luck with Elevenses and Cartonnier pants. Both brands can be found at Anthropologie. Side pockets can add too much bulk to my hips so I avoid them altogether or have a tailor stitch them closed. I'm OK with a small or medium pocket on the front of a pair of dressy pants.

As a follow-up to today’s post, I’d love to find a pair of trousers to wear with sneakers and so far have been unsuccessful. I feel my trouble spot in terms of fit is my midsection and hip area...pockets, for example, don’t seem to be my friend. Since I’ll be wearing sneakers I might not need to worry about finding a tall size. I’m open to either a solid or pattern like plaid, for example, but need to avoid wool against my skin. Has anyone run across something flop proof or quite flattering you can recommend?
