Thanks all!

I find myself drawn to the red moto jacket, even though I know the black would go with more in my wardrobe. The red is a little less "tough" than the black. Plus, there will always be more black jackets, so this a definite "go".

I'm going to wait for a sale on the green skirt. It's an experimental piece, so it can't be full price.

For a denim jacket to be worn with dresses only, I'd prefer white or yellow or even black, but not red, especially given that I'll have the moto jacket. A bright yellow would actually be perfect in my wardrobe.

Claire, I wasn't out at the stores when I posted these photos. :)

If anyone's curious, my shopping strategy is to:

try on in fitting room
take photos
post on ylf
order online or in store when there's a sale

instead of

try on in fitting room
buy and take home
try on and take photos
post on ylf
return rejects to store

Given my typical ratio of hits/misses, this strategy does result in fewer trips to the store and of course, less time waiting in line.

Hahaha! You try on skirts like I do!

I love the skirt and the moto on you (I guess you aren't still in the fitting room 5 hours later though). The moto fit is PERFECT. Get the black only if you love black. I like the red, because it will get noticed, but I can't really remember everything you have and what will work best with your wardrobe. I do remember Angie saying that the clay color and the red were the best of the lot in regard to that moto.

I agree with you on the blazer. I can see the button pulling and it looks really long in general.

Re: the cropped jean jacket, these are funny little jackets and they often look wonky with pants. You have to see it with the dresses/skirts you need it to go with to make the decision. I bought a white one yesterday and until I had it all styled, I was still unsure. However if you've ever tried to wear a traditional blazer with a dress and found it too long, you know what I'm talking about.

I can't wait to see what you end up with!

I like the colour and fit of the skirt - and I love that red leather jacket on you! Not crazy about 3 and 4.

Love the moto jacket, I think it fits you perfectly! I like the red too, but I'm no help as to what you should actually buy - I did like Rae's comment about buying what you love and think you'll wear most. For me that would probably be a more neutral color too.

I like #1,#2,and #3 the best. The skirt in 1 is a wonderful color and the moto jacket is fun! The #3 blazer looks flattering on you but you would need to take up the sleeve length a bit.

@MHS: Thank you for the styling suggestions. I do have a navy top and a grey top that would work well with it.

@Angie: It's so kind of you to say all the jackets look amazing but here is what I see as the issues with #3 and #4. Could you (or any experienced YLF-er), explain why these aren't problems?

#3: The button is actually being pulled tight because the narrowest point of the jacket is hitting my high hip. If I pull up the jacket by an inch from the shoulders, all of a sudden, the jacket shaping slid into place perfectly. I felt that I was running into the "short torso" issue.

#4: It seems too short to look good with jeans or a skirt- if I had on a high contrast top, I'd get horizonal lines going across my back. It seems like it could only be worn with dresses.

Thanks!

I can't see the fit well enough of the skirt to be sure, but I like what I see so far!

ALL the jackets look amazing, Sylvie. You'll need a little sleeve adjustment on #3, but my word - you fill these jackets out beautifully.

I'd get the green skirt - you can wear with neutrals, or contrasting bright colors or a basic white button down. I think it would look great with navy or navy and white stripes.

1) Green express pencil skirt in cotton. I thought this fit well though I need to think about whether it will match with anything in my closet.

2) Red Express not-leather moto jacket owned by others on the forum. Is the sizing right? The clerk thought I could size down but it's tight enough as it is. A size up gave me way too much space in the shoulders. Also, since I have other no moto jackets, should I get black instead, since it's more basic? Or stick with the red or one of the other colors?

3) Red express blazer: The waist on this hit me too low, but otherwise, it was a surprisingly flattering look. I may have to hunt down a petite bright colored blazer.

4) Red Jolt denim jacket: Too cropped even for me, which is sad. I wouldn't be able to wear it with jeans, which is why I wanted it.

I'm thinking about price stalking #2 and possibly #1. #3 and #4 are out in my book, but would love additional opinions.

Thanks!
