Anne, I'm really late on this thread but just wanted to jump in and say where are you disappearing to!?! You look so great! I LOVE the two new dresses (agree with others about the beige shoes, also think the vamp may be too high on those to wear with skirts and dresses). You will look great at the wedding!

About the white legs, I am afflicted wiht the same coloring so if it's warm enough to go without hose, can you try some lotion that builds up a tan? We have some in the US that is just like lotion but it builds up some color over a couple of days use rather than the self tanning lotion. Does that make any sense?

Angie - thanks! It is almost impossible to shop with the girls - we left them home with DH that night. I do have an all day shopping trip planned with a friend for next friday, but that is the day before the wedding so cutting it a bit fine! Glad to have approval so I don't need to think about it any more. Just hope the weather warms up.
Glad you liked the day dress. I was a bit ambivalent about the waist tie, but Mum liked it. Actually she presuaded me to get the dress! It is a little looser than I sometimes wear, as they didn't have a smaller size

BTW my legs are sooo winter white! Angie - you don't like nude hose do you. Any suggestions?

Alecia, I have these mid calf black boots
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_5408.jpg

Don't own any knee high black ones as I decided to go for the brown instead this year.

I do think with the 3rd dress it's really about the shoes. I bet black boots would transform the look. Do you just have the brown boots, Anne? I can't remember if you also have black.

Anne! You did so well!

I adore both new dresses! Super! The dress for the wedding with pink cardi is gorgeous! You look BEAUTIFUL. I know that it was very hard to shop with 3 little voices to attend to, so I’m doubling up my rating and giving you 20 out of 10 for a sterling effort. Enjoy the wedding and feel fab!

Last little outfit is super hip too. I’m proud of you

BTW I have a charcoal longsleeved T-shirt I am now thinking about trying, as pe your suggestion. Can you believe I don't even own a white button down. Threw out the only one I owned 2 years ago as it was too loose around the waist. Wish I knew then what I now am learning about layering!

Anne, I just wanted to say how gorgeous you look in all the dresses. I especially like the first two. The wedding dress is spectacular on you. I love with the cardi too. You could also try a cream cropped cardi with some kind of embellishment around the neck, and red shoes.

The last outfit with the fixed link: really like it! Instead of the white top, you could aso try a white button down shirt or a charcoal turtleneck.

Re shoes - as it happens I bought some dark red patent flats this last winter and wore them about once! They might do the trick.

Alecia - yes those black shoes are my ever-so-comfy made for orthotics pair. Roundly dismissed on YLF as not being suitably stylish
Also, know what you mean about lots of black. I guess it is one of the pitfalls of tying to wear a summer dress in winter. I don't think I have a suitably necklined other colour to wear with it either. Maybe I should just wear it in summer, altough I am not sure what with, as skinnies have been ruled out, and black opaques are too wintery.

AJ - black tall boots - on the wishlist for next autumn! I couldn't stretch to 2 quality pairs of boots this winter.

Shana - my baby is 9 months. Thanks for the compliment - I do look prety flabby underneath though. Also I am a pear, which changes the weight distribution. I bought that third dress, the one you don't like, primarily as a coverup top just after I had the baby

I was wondering why noone commented on the very last outfit - I have fixed the link now so you get a picture, not a link to a thread

Way to go Anne! I really like the first dress - it can be dressed up or down and it looks great. I like Alecia's suggestion of some cute red sandals to give it a pop of color. Love the second/wedding dress - you look so long & lean it and the silver sandals are a perfect complement. Don't we both have babies around the same age? I look like I am still pregnant while you are rockin' a great post-baby bod! I like the pink cardi with it although it does seem to be less dressy with the cardigan. I also like the grey dress - a classic! You can work this dress in the winter with tights and boots and in the summer with sandals and a cute cardi! I am not a fan of that third dress (with or without the cardigan) - it does nothing for your figure unlike the other three dresses.

I like the dresses you bought. The prints are fun. I think the wedding outfit you put together is perfect. I like the silver sandals. I also think the jumper is great. (Jumper in the English, not Australian sense of the word.) It is very flattering to your figure.

I'm not sure about the 3rd dress. What's the fabric? It looks velvet. Is that right? I think the black long sleeves underneath and the tights all together are too somber for the dress. And the long sweater covers it all up. I'm thinking a short cardiagan might be better.

I agree with Sihaya on pairing the first dress with different shoes. I got some red flats (inspired by ylf) and I get so much wear out of them. Something like that would be great for that dress. I know the shoe situation has already been discussed but I think the high vamps on the black shoes don't do any justice to the dresses. The shoes look so utilitarian. (Probably why you wear them, no?) But the dresses are so feminine that it seems that a more feminine touch would bring the look together.

I really like all of the dresses, Anne. I wouldn't wear the long cardigan with the print dress because it covers it up and defeats the purpose of showing off your cute dress. You could probably also wear that dress with black tall boots. Looking good!!

Anne- great going.
#1 - great dress, really shows off your lovely bod. I personally would wear them with different colored shoes. The white in the dress seems to clash with the beige in the shoes.
#2 - beautiful, I have one very similar to it. A tiche long but I think that's ok. I love the strappy sandals and the pink cardi with it too.
#3 - I remember this from your other thread. Nice job with the tights. The cardigan seems a bit long with it but it might be because I'm not an expert on this look. I do like the idea of a cardi with it though.
#4 - gorgeous

I went shopping a few nights ago - I bet you guys wouldn't believe how limited the shopping is - thursday night shopping (that's the nights the shops can stay open) 3 clothing shops open in the whole town. Anyway Mum and I visited 2 of them
and bought
1) this dress which I hope will work as a summer day dress. I like the slightly 40sish look and the fact that it covers my shoulders (good in our very hot summers) and enough coverage not to need a cami
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....sd3014.jpg

2) this dress for a wedding I am going to in a couple of weeks. (As mentioned in previous thread http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....replies=18) (I know the sandals aren't done up)
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....sd3015.jpg
My only reservation about the dress is that it might not be warm enough, so I thought I could wear it with this cardi.
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....sd3016.jpg
If that isn't warm enough, I guess the dress won't do

Also I have a dress I tried with opaque tights in response to a forum thread on that topic (wore it with skinnies and got the comment that it was too long)
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_6082.jpg
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_6081.jpg

Another dress that I just love - had it for 9 years - have worn it alone and with tops underneath (posted because of Angies blog on golden oldies and Antjes on Munich trends)
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....sd3017.jpg

Also one other outfit that just didn't make it to another thread http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_6075.jpg
