Sterling- I can't wait to hear what you think. That is a beautiful dress. I really like the floral side but the navy side would be a great basic.
Like you I rarely wore dresses when I was working. Bit now I am finding I like flowy dresses for summer wear. I am keeping fingers crossed that it works for you.

I've been in separates mode for a long while now but feel a dress mode coming on again!

Here's my spring/summer dress capsule -- does not include the super casual cotton day dresses I wouldn't wear to work. The dresses on the bottom row are older ones I've had for awhile. The dresses on the top have been recently added in the last year -- all from Macy's! I now live near a Macy's and I've been having good success with their petite lines Connected and Alfani. (And yes I duplicated that 3/4 sleeve assymetrical hem dress .... fits well and is super comfy and forgiving, plus can be dressed up or down and packs well too).

Can you see a theme? Black & white! With some navy thrown in for good measure. I have learned that neutrals are the dresses I reach for most often. That purple one is fun, comfortable, fits well but I always feel overly conspicuous in it, unless I'm traveling down south.

The sleeveless B&W striped tent shirt dress (top row) looks super cute over EF slim ankle pants. Sheath dress (on the bottom row) is from AT and I have that duplicated in black as well, both sheaths have the matching suit jacket for when I need to dress more formally at work.

Sterling, I work very pt at WHBM. The dress you're looking at is super flattering!!! I actually prefer the floral side, but the navy is really nice as well. IMHO, the navy isn't too body con for a professional look with a topper over it. One of my co-workers who is a professional speaker has the dress in a different color combo and finds it perfectly professional for speaking (for her audiences.)

I have two WHBM dresses. One is a wrap dress from ages ago, and the other is a sheath dress from this past fall. I love them both, but I have never tried their reversible dresses. The sheath dress is fitted, but not overly so. I did try on one of their “body perfecting” dresses and it was very fitted so I passed on it.

I have generally found WHBM to be of pretty good quality. I recently bought a colorblock sheath dress from there, and it is nicely lined and seems like it will hold up. A lot of their stuff is machine washable too.

If you want a great dress with sleeves, this one is about perfect to me. So flattering, soft and can be dressed up or down. Can't find a "Find" for it.

I think you should try it on Sterling - lovely dress!! But if you get it you need to wear it - even if it is outside the comfort zone.

I could really see you in a shirt dress or shift dress- probably plain but maybe a print - simple, cool, perfect for your hot climate. Linen or quality cotton, knee length - sleeveless or elbow length sleeves.

Interesting. That is a lovely dress -- I'm betting it would be more date night than work appropriate. I think you need a knit that is less a sheath and more a shift if you want it to be work-ready, especially if you are curvy.

Texstyle -- you live in dress weather! Wear those babies!! They look perfect for your climate!!

I love dresses in summer and in theory also in winter but wear them so much less then. Brrrrrr. Even with tights etc. etc.

I can totally relate to not wearing dresses Sterling, but this one is pretty enough to try. I'm on the fence currently about this Madewell red dress. I actually love it on (much longer on me than the model and quite roomy but in a good gamine sort of way) but I just don't know when I would wear it. And the reviews talk about washing issues. I even emailed Madewell and they assured me they'd stand behind it if I had an issue after washing it. But it would also mean 2 Madewell dresses in my wardrobe and neither worn yet. UGH! The other one is more of a slam dunk but it just hasn't been the right weather yet.

It is a beautiful dress, Sterling, I saw it in the store yesterday. I have bought a very similar dress from them in the fall ( pinks instead of blues, and not reversible). I went for XXS as XS did not feel good on me. I have posted it on the forum and it was deemed a bit too body con for work. I have a long cardigan on order to wear over it to be able to make it work appropriate. Just wanted to give you a heads up that it is made of stretchy jersey which would fit snug in a smaller size and looser but perhaps a little shapeless in a bigger size. This was of course the case on me, and it may look very different on you.

I find WHBM dresses quite body con on my curves, great for date night and weddings, less appropriate for work (on my body). Definitely try a couple sizes. If you plan to wear to work, consider sizing up to get a work appropriate body skimming fit if necessary.

It's very pretty. Good idea to try it on. But remember these contouring sheath dresses can look very different from a person to another. They don't suit every body shape. Angie is a rectangle, which works well with the style, and so was Jackie O, I beleive. The print on the one you show here would slim and elongate pair and hourglass firgures, but could make an inverted triangle look even more statuesque, as the sleeveless sheath already showcases the shoulders and then the pattern drives the eye upward.
