Thanks all, for the input! As it turned out, I had forgotten a black blazer at the office and it was roomy enough to layer over the sweater. I felt more put together wth this addition and as my date showed up wearing a button down, a fine gauge sweater and super, mega awesome metrosexual cognac shoes... it worked out just fine.

We were the ones dressed the most "formal" at the restaurant; surprisingly packed for a week night (if we hadn't made reservations, we would not be able to get a table...) of fleece jackets (-2 Celsius was as low as temperatures got and that's sure not low enough to break out the ski fleece middle layers for out here!) and wool dresses.

@Sarah: Don't trust the hype. This grey jacket looks much warmer than it actually is. It is super cozy, there you are right, but because is so loose and blanket-y like... it becomes a nightmare on windy days. It flows around and opens easily (there is just one single hook on the collar to close it). But... just in case you got hooked... it is from Chicwish and they still hv it. In grey, white and beige.

@peacechick: The grey jacket was the outside layer, so no issues there. By removing it once I entered the bar, I was pretty OK. I just had a long sleeved cotton tee below the sweater.

I think you look hip! Agreed that it is winter and the photos were from summer. Most diners will be dressed like you. My only question is if you will feel too warm?

If I were to change out it would maybe be for a finer gauge sweater, or sparkly scarf as someone suggested, or maybe a silk button front.

I think your outfit looks perfect for a mid week meal in a hip restaurant. As mentioned above the FB ladies may have been attending a private party at the restaurant or moving on to somewhere more formal later.

The menu and bar design definitely say relaxed rather than formal IMO.

I think your outfit looks perfect for a weeknight dinner at a hip restaurant. Those pics may well have been at a party but were most certainly a weekend, when most people dress up more. Your heels, the tucked in jeans, it all elevates the monochromatic look. Love it. Maybe a red lip, if you do lip color?

If you think you will feel more self-conscious should you be underdressed then change (or perhaps simply add a sparkly scarf if that wouldn't look ridiculous with your current outfit). If you would feel more self-conscious if overdressed then don't change. If you don't feel like changing either way, then I think you might find it reassuring to speak to the restaurant to find out whether women tend to be more dressed-up than your current outfit, or not.

If you don't change, but it turns out to be a more dressy place, wear your current outfit with attitude and confidence and you'll be fine.

Enjoy the food and company!

I think what you have on is perfect. All the pics on their website are casual. The FB pics were probably a party. Have fun! the menu looks yummy.

I dont think i'd change. I think there will probably be other people dressed like you (warm). Why not phone the restaurant this afternoon and find out just how formal it is. I am thinking those slinky dresses come out in summer.

OK, so I will be dining at this restaurant today: http://www.restaurant-marks.at. At first, I though it was a relaxed place, but after visiting their FB page and seeing pics of girls on shiny strapless dresses and high heels... I am not so sure.

FB pics were old, from summer, and I can't pull my own little black strapless on the -1 Celsius (I might be corageous, but not crazy!).

I was lazy getting dressed in the morning bf leaving to work, so... that is what I am wearing now: another shot on Angie's formula of dark neutrals on the go. Should I go home and change for something fancier bf the restaurant or can I go as I am, directly from work?

If you vote for a change of clothes... Any ideas? As I said I am not very inspired today... I could try a frill skirt and a fluffly sweater (both black) or a gold sweater. Problem with the frill skirt is... do they look OK with tall boots? I would be cold wearing booties (as we are going to walk for 3 blocks after dinner to a movie theather).
