I like wearing summer scarves but usually only wear them when in a.c. or when going out for the evening. I like the scarf with this dress and would try it the ways Claire and Donna have suggested.

Love the flash of pink and the very modern sandals with your lovely dress. I agree with the others that it's worth exploring "lighter" drapes, if possible, although it sound like maximizing warmth is important, too!

I am starting to think that this scarf may be too big for a true summery look! It is huge. If I looped it infinity-wise it would be hanging around my navel! Unless I looped it three times, maybe.

However it is very, very soft--drapey and collapsible--which made me think it might work for summer looks. It would make a great shawl when I get cold, but that particular look won't work when I'm playing the piano!

I love those colors together + the sandals! In summer, I make an infinity scarf by tying diagonal corners into a square knot that sits at the back of my neck. Then, I twist that long necklace so it circles my neck twice. Will that work with your scarf? It gives more air around my neck so it isn't quite so hot, and some scarves need a few twists before tying in order to take down some bulk.

I think it looks great, and I also love Claire's suggestions. I agree it can be difficult to figure out how to tie a scarf, and like Lyn, I am amazed you wear one in summer. But I hear you on the air con. I like twisting mine into necklaces, too, as Florence suggested. Works best with a summery scarf, I think.

So glad you survived your day of sad duty.

Lyn, were those pics there before? I didn't see them on my phone! I will try something kerchief-y.

Claire, definitely made it through with mission accomplished not to mess up and be a distraction--whether I helped is out of my hands! Thanks for the suggestion! I am still learning how to tie scarves, but I love the whole idea and want to work on it.

Florence, love the suggestions.

I think it looks really nice, especially with the sandals! You could start your knot the same way, just make the loop larger and longer. Then tuck the ends through to loop instead of tying them together. What a great dress, really you look fab. I love the whole combo.

I hope you made it through all of the funeral services okay. <<<hugs>>>

Florence, when I get home I'll play around with that. I did try Angie's knot and the tails reached to the hem of my dress!

If you want to go with something plainer that looks less "bundled up," how about folding the scarf into more of a narrow rectangle, and then trying Angie's necktie knot, or even just tying a nice square knot? That should keep less fabric wrapped up around your neck.

ETA: I also like to twist my scarf up into a long rope, and then wear it almost like a chunky necklace. That's a good summer option, too.

It's that cold in my office, sometimes painfully. At church I'm in direct line of a vent that's trying to cool a space that seats 1300.

I saw a young thing wearing a scarf in a very summery way. I can't figure out how she tied it. It rested on her lower neck/upper chest in a very artistic way with no tails. Couldn't duplicate it. I suppose I could ask her!

I will admit you are braver than me to try to wear a scarf in the summer! I rarely do, except as a drape or a wrap over my shoulders if it's terribly cold!

(or I'm on night call and want people to stop bothering me). :p

Thanks, Florence!

Lyn, I agree with you. I tried two other ways and thought they were too unsuccessful to show. I wonder what might be a more summery way to tie a long, wide oblong scarf. The colors are summery!

How do you feel about wrapping the scarf a different way? I feel that they way you have it on right now says very "winter" or "fall" to me. :)

I'm a scarf-oholic so you can feel free to take this with a grain of salt, but I say yes, yes, yes! The black and white pattern mixing and the pop of pink work so perfectly here.

This Spring I played around with wearing dresses with scarves but never felt sure the look worked. This morning when I didn't feel like wearing my usual lime green cardi with this dress, I tried it again. What do you think? Does it work? If not, is the look worth trying again some other way?
