The dress is a great dress. It is very flattering because it is gathered in that low but perfect place. I agree that the tank top might be the problem. If you want some more coverage I would try a tube top.

Maybe this one

http://files.hm.com/media/prod.....4_0736.jpg

from H&M is the right one for you. If you like pattern.

That's what I thought too Shana. It opens too far down. I'm going to try pinning it, but my thought is that it will probably just pull. Who knows though. If it works, I might just try to sew it up a tiny bit and hopefully it won't be obvious.

Maya, I love the dress. I agree the neckline looks a little iffy. I hope the cami helps - I think the v-part should not open that far too. Can it be pinned a little without disrupting the neckline too much?

Maya Old Navy is my favorite place for tanks/camis. They are dirt cheap when they are on sale! (and they have v-neck cami's!)

The dress looks good on you,Maya. The colour of the dress is very good.I would opt for a camisole with a lower neckline or one with a v-neck,as mentioned by others.

I agree - try a lower cami (with or without lace). The cami you have is too similar to a crew neck cut to me, and I know that's not our friend! (I'm a big busted gal, too.)

I agree Maya. The dress looks lovely (and those Brulees too). I'd try both the scoopneck and the V-neck cami as the others have already suggested. And that cami you're wearing is indeed a fantastic colour!!

I would try a cami with wider shoulder straps too (technically a tank top then?) or a sleeveless T, maybe even with a 'narrow' V-neck, so that more of the material (straps too) will peek out from under the dress. I love that kind of 'nonchalant' look and think it will go well with this dress.

Something along these lines:

Maya -
I think the dress is cute, but I think a v-neck cami might work better. I have this problem, too, as you know, and I'm always reluctant to wear v-neck camis because I feel like they still show too much cleavage. But the one with the lace might solve at least a bit of that problem. I look forward to seeing pictures if you end up trying it.
Christine

Kari - LOVE the dress. I'm very jealous!

I think a vee-neck or a scooped one that was just a little bit lower would solve your problem. I often have the same issue with my dresses and camis, so I've started stocking up on ones that hit me mid-chest instead of higher or lower.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....473339674/

I am really liking the Caslon brand from Nordstroms, as depicted above. I got 2, in red and in teal, and am considering going back for more. They don't slide down as the day goes on, like my AT ones do, and they hit me at the right spot for working at the Nun Hospital.

Maya, thanks! That dress is from Banana Republic. I found it on the clearance rack last spring and could not resist it because I love the color and it fits snugly in the waistband. It would be perfect if it offered more bust coverage and didn't have so much pleating around the tummy.

And those camis are perfect. Thanks for the link! At $7.50 each it shouldn't make too big a dent in my shopping ban.

Planetamy, minimizers don't really make my chest look any smaller. They just sort of squash my boobs. Not the most flattering look. I usually wear it with a necklace so that might help. A scarf might be a little toasty once it starts warming up though, heh.

Maya, I'm not sure what you think of this idea/style, but I have some cheap camis from Old Navy that are V-neck with lace at the top. (I've seen Kendra, aka LeeHovey, wear the same ones.) The V of the actual jersey fabric hits low enough that without lace I would be spouting massive amounts of cleavage, but the lace comes high enough & is opaque enough that I'm not worried about looking indecent. They are jersey and don't have a shelf bra.
http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/.....=595918072

This is the only pic I have of layering it under a low-cut dress. Very different neckline than yours, and I'm not confident about whether it's the best look for my dress or yours, but it gets me through the day and might work on you.

I really like this dress!

What about a minimizer bra if you're that self-conscious about your chest?

I agree, the straight across cami is sort of ruining the effect of the deep V of the dress, in terms of elongating your neck/showing off your decolletege (however you spell it).

some other options: a scarf tied right down the middle, a necklace sitting right where that blue cami is hitting you in that picture. I'm just thinking of things I do to hide cleavage I'm self-conscious about.

I like it with the cami. How does it look if you pin the top like you would sew it up higher? It seems it might just pull across the bust, but it's hard to tell.

I'm moving this discussion here so I don't clutter up the other thread:

I posted a picture of this dress with my Brulees and I'm not feeling great about it. It used to be my favorite go-to dress for muggy, hot days, but I feel like my chest looks enormous in it.

http://img.photobucket.com/alb.....G_1666.jpg

Antje suggested a v-neck cami, which sounds like a good idea. I usually go for camis that are straight across or slightly scooped because they give me the coverage I'm seeking, but I would like to give this a try since this v is so very low. A higher v neck could still give the right coverage while being a better shape.

Also wondering if it just looks that way because the v goes too low and the knot isn't quite where it's supposed to be.

This is what it looks like on the small busted model:

http://www.urbanoutfitters.com.....8;color=41

I wonder if perhaps I could sew it up a little higher? Do you think think that would help?
