Sorry I've taken so long to respond to this. Work is super hectic.
Maneera..thanks so much for your straightforward realistic view. Yeah on those hot days you do need dresses.
Thank you Sally for your ideas. That is a great suggestion about 3. i think I will go and get it pulled up around the shoulders.. I was wearing this dress on the Gold Coast in April and it was quite fitted. And I will try 6 with another bra. I tend to wear sports bras but do have some other bras.
Thanks Ivy. I think 1 is a keeper and I'm getting swayed to try 6 in different ways.

I don't have a good eye for alteration potential, but I really like 1, 6, 13 & 14 as they are.

I also like 1 and 2. Just shows how sizing is a nonsense!! You look lovely in both these dresses, so pretty.

I think 3 could be terrific with a bit of a lift in the shoulders- that would be an easy alteration.

I wonder with 6 what it would be like with a different bra, I think it is worth trying. I have a similar dress that I can only wear with a certain bra.

I think it is good to have a couple of dresses for very hot days teaching in summer, a couple for holiday wear, and a couple for evening. Some may double up.

My summer dresses are - three work, two maxi, one sun frock ( weekend wear, lunches etc) and a couple of party dresses. I need to update my work dresses as one is a little dated, and one is becoming very well worn and showing it.

Let's be honest here. You *need* some dresses and you don't want to go spending money buying new ones for the upcoming summer.

So which of these dresses would I wear if they were mine? To be honest; I'd wear ALL. None of them look horrendously loose or baggy.

But the ones that actually fit you well in your current size are: #1, 2, 5/6, 8, 9, 10 & 13. Keep those & wear them. They look good.

Donna, that's a brilliant method of working out what is too big. I will have to try that. As its still winter here I have left my dresses at my mum's in her spare room.

Thanks Olen.

So in conclusion, I have decided that I will keep 1 and 2 to wear for summer because that got the most votes. All the others I am undecided on so I am going to leave in a wardrobe somewhere and come back. Maybe when I have more money next year(going on a big holiday at the end of year so don't want to spend), I can get them altered. I also want to see if I stay at this size.....If I am this size next year, they go or are altered. So I have 2 dresses for summer plus another little black one, however, I have shorts and I have picked up some great lightweight pants I can wear to work, so I'm not in a desperate situation. For the most part, I'm going to try to channel Emmanuel Alt and do great things with jeans and pants and dress the body I have now.

The ones that definitely look too big to my eye are 3/4, 9, and 11/12. For the others, I would see if the shoulder seams hits in the proper place and do the bend over test. If you are sitting at a table and can see to your navel when you lean over, if it were me I would pass the dress on unless it can be cheaply altered.

I think I'll go through and highlight the mutual picks...basically #1. Lol. Which is ironically a xs from what is known as a plus size shop. I don't know anywhere else that make that style.
Traci, I don't think I'm petite. I'm 5ft 6...is that petite?

My favorites are 1,6,7.

Are you petite? Several of the other dresses made me feel like they'd be great if I could just pull them up an inch or two in the shoulders.

I think the shorter length may have been the common thread in the ones I liked. It could just be the others needed to size down, though.

My favorite is dress #1. If you want to know which look best, I would say that one. Which fit is a different question, I think dress 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, and maybe 11 all fit but don't necessarily flatter you since you have lost weight. A trip to the tailor might be worthwhile to see if any of these are worth altering. Alterations are cheaper than new dresses.

For the ones that look too big, if you still like the fabric and dress style and it's cost effective to alter, I would alter them.

I like #1, 2 and 13 on you. I find #1 the most flattering.
#6 looks small. Ain't the neckline of #8 supposed to fall flat ? #12 looks baggy, I agree.
#7 I find the least flattering shape, the big shoulder line, wide sleeves and wide cinched waistline don't work in my eyes.
The others I'm indifferent to.

Here are some dresses that I've had stored and i would love some feedback on these.
Excuse the lack of ironing...they are going to the op shop if they are purged. Some ironically I didn't wear because they felt too fitted..now I think they are too loose...are they worth altering or can I wear loose? Though I've lost weight I've lost practically nothing in the bust so thinking I might still be able to wear my dresses.
1 could be too big...I love the style. It's a tunic dress.
2 a white and pink flowered dress. I think I'll keep as it's super comfy.
3-4 In theory two sizes too big but I think it would work with denim jacket
5-6 this was too small for me last year. It is very light and navy colour.
7. This was very tight before..it's a dark grey colour.
8This was too small. Black dress
9. Two sizes bigger than what I wear now but can I still wear. It's lined so expensive to alter.
10. Not lined.too big?
11-12. Lined dress. Is it too baggy?
13. Navy and cream striped dress. Lined
14. Dress with flowers. Not lined
15. Same dress with denim jacket
