Hi MsMaven --

First, I think all the dresses are great on you and you're certainly set for summer / Florida!

I'm going to be a bit of an outlier re the conference dressing -- especially as it's down to just you and one other presenter.

I think bold-for-you but not overly casual is the way to go.

If you hadn't ruled out sleeveless I would for sure say wear the giraffe dress and don't look back! What about the new blazer as-is in #1 (jeans and navy top) but a dressier shoe? Or the new blazer over the polka-dot dress?

IDK, both the other blazers + polka dot dress read as casual in a way that doesn't underline your presentation power quite enough for my tastes. I actually think the dress alone -- since it has sleeves -- makes more of a statement.

Have fun with both your adventures!

I had an all day class yesterday and was tired out by evening--sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.

One of our panelists had to cancel--so there will be just the two of us. And I get more time to speak!

3Style and Suz, I am experimenting with colors and saturation, as well as patterns. Some colors I wore as a blonde just don't look right now. I meant to do an organized reappraisal, but have been so busy the last months I haven't done it.

Kelly, the polka dot dress does seem right--and bucks the conservative vibe.

Wow, Angie! Thanks for all the "Killers."

The shoes are Gentle Souls. I saw them on someone's blog and had to try them. The maxi dresses are longer than I expected and I've thought about shortening them a bit.

Boden is amazing, not just the quality of fabric, but the fit! Armholes fit right, necklines not too low and room for the bust, and just right through middle of my body--often fitted around the waist only emphasizes the belly but these are just right. And long enough!

The long blue dress has a gathered cummerbund effect, something I was afraid wouldn't work, but it's fine on me.

I'll try the dress again with the red jacket. I thought the dots were red until the dress got here.

The polka dot dress with the coral sandals is KILLER Spectacular, MsMaven. WOW. So elegant and casually chic. Fab with the peach denim jacket. Try it with your short red denim jacket too. Great for the conference. Who made those sandals?

The maxi dresses look fabulous, although I'd personally prefer to see a shorter length or high low hemline. Excellent and flattering fit.

#6 and #7 are FABULOUS. Flattering.

#8 is KILLER STUNNING, but a little formal for the conference, perhaps.

#10, another KILLER look.

YES. We have the right to bare or cover our arms.

I love the polka dot for the conference. It's smashing on you and it bucks the conservative vibe. The striped dress is terrific especially with the red topper. You have a great selection of dresses. They all look fab on you!

Yes Suz totally understands what I’m thinking about on this topic. Now that I’m starting to grow out my blonde hair and have a fair bit of gray hair, gray clothing suddenly suits me again. And somewhat softened color looks better than before. I have not actually decided whether to grow out the blonde entirely, but I definitely was starting to feel too washed out by it. So far, overall it’s a pretty nice ombré effect, so I’m just taking it one day at a time.

What 3style says is interesting. Despite having softer personal colouring, I also look better in brighter colours (esp. now that I am grey) and in sharp contrast like stripes or checks. Not super bold patterns (too big for my frame and overwhelm me) but the contrast needs to be crisp. I can do soft but only if I keep to my ideal colour palette (mid to dark blues, grey, silver, etc.) and only if I don't mind being in the background -- not what I would want for a presentation.

What a fantastic haul!! You look terrific in all these possibles. Love your Florida dinner dress on you.

I like both the polka dot and the stripe dress for the conference but feel as if the polka dot has a bit more elegance due to the cut and length, so I would go with that. I am not entirely sure about the topper, though. It may be the proportions, or it may be colour reproduction on my screen, but I'm not loving it. How does the red jacket work, or is it too casual? And do you have other potential toppers?

I also adore your older dress -- the giraffe. It looks amazingly great on you despite not echoing the colours of your current hair -- extremely flattering and sophisticated.

The new Maggy London is pretty but feels more wedding or garden party than conference presentation to me.

You've done well at Boden!!

From the photos on my screen the red denim jacket looks like it would go better over the Boden polka dot dress than the peach one does. I thought that the dots were red until I reread your questions. Have you tried that? I’m thinking good for the presentation like that. Also I love the Boden blazer and the striped dress on you. To me it seems like that there is something bold and classic about your personality but that you are trying to flatter your softer coloring in some of the other items. Just speculating, particularly because I have somewhat of the same issues regarding color saturation.

Well I really like both the orange polka dot dress and the striped dress! However I have a slight preference for the polka dot one. Just because I love the happy/cute vibe of polka dots :). Also because it’s slightly longer I think it better for a conference. The striped one looks more of a casual option to me eyes. Best of luck choosing.

Last year after decided I'd mainly wear neutrals and pants, I went nuts this spring with dresses, bright colors, and shoes. For so long dresses were too short or otherwise unsuitable. Then I got caught up in Boden fever. I bought the jacket, then dresses. Earlier I bought some Lauren Ralph Lauren Dresses and some denim jackets in colors.

This is show and tell and ask for advice. First, while weight has stayed same or gone up, in the last 3 or so years I have lost height. I've gone from just under 5'9" to around 5'7" first thing in morning. Upsetting, even though I knew it was likely to happen. Where did those 2" of flesh settle on my body? Around the belly, so now I deal with skinny rib cage, apple belly, and did I mention more weight on breasts?

There was a blog post a few months ago on the right to bare arms.

https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/.....a-40618356

One result of the dress mania is that I have intensified work outs. I now have an almost belly of steel, but it's still out there and I hate most tunics. My arms have improved. Wanted to get a little bit of tan but it has been a cold, cloudy spring so haven't worn much sleepless. Legs are hopeless, veins, scars, but they still have a good shape, so the dreaded pantyhose or Air Stockings. I'm no longer afraid to bare my arms! But not at the conference.

Soon I will be presenting a paper at a history conference. Dress is business casual, but this group hews to a fairly modest standard. I've dressed conservatively on past panels. I will be on a panel on law and politics with 2 other attorneys, both male. I'm tired of being so conservative and want to liven it up a little. I'm not an academic and not looking for a job.

After the conference we will head to Disney World for a family vacation and lots of fun.

So what do you think of the Boden navy with orange polka dot dress with an peachy orange denim jacket for my presentation? Or should I go to the navy/white striped RLR dress with red or orange jacket. Should I go back to Giraffe dress with black topper? Or my old fall back, the Nik+Zoe cardi with black skirt and top? Or go crazy with new Maggy London dress? Whatever I take will go to Orlando with me. Unless there is a hurricane.

I'm thinking #3 for dinners out in Florida. Will have to do another post for the packing post.

I bought more dresses but are for a later post.

#1-4 Boden #4 is dress I might wear on panel with #5 jacket.
#5 Boden dress with Macy's denim jacket.
#6-7 RLR dress with red or orange denim
#8 giraffe dress Maggy London 3 yrs old.
#9 old standby NikZoe
#10 new Maggy London dress, on panel would wear with jacket.
