Thanks!! I am not ordering any - I think that is too expensive for polyester as well.....and as a close fitting summer dress I would be nervous about that. I just liked these looks as they all gave me food for thought.

And I have found two blazers on TradeMe that I have paid for (like EBay) - second hand - will be interesting to see what they are like.

Jenny, maybe this will be intersting for you.

There is a website called " good on you" which rates the fashion brands in terms of their policies for planet, animal, labour, etc. Brands are rated from 1 (We Avoid) to 5 (Great),

The Cos is part of the H&M umbrella and its ethical policy has been rated as "it's a start" , level 3. Here's the link of their ethical report
https://directory.goodonyou.eco/brand/cos .

Looking at the main brands in the UK high street, few of them have been rated "not good enough" ( Zara, Mango, Next) and the majority has been rated "we avoid". Marks Spencer has been rated "good", only 1 level higher than H&M.

H&M have been working very hard to clean up their act and have made several positive changes in their supply chain, quality and the level of information that they share with the consumer.

Whilst my motto is "buy less, choose well" , I am supporting HM as I really like that they are one of the few fast fashion brands that is challenging themselves to improve at all levels and due to the high volumes, they can bring some good changes to the environment and to the people who only purchase from the high street.

Sally, we have COS here now, there is a retail store in the new Westfield Newmarket in Auckland. Of course it is closed right now but might be worth Googling to see what dress stock they will have. I went into the store a couple of months back when life was more normal and the stuff looked nice.
I am not sure about it as owned by H&M I believe I have read on the forum and I am trying not to buy from that company. However as I keep most of my clothes a long time now and try to wear many times it makes me feel it may not matter so much if I buy “fast fashion” occasionally as it won’t be fast turnover for me personally. I haven’t decided for sure yet.
The quality of Cue seems very good but I would not want to pay that much for a polyester dress! The most expensive dress currently in my wardrobe cost $203 on sale and I have only spent more for my wedding dress and the silk outfit for my sister’s wedding in 2004 ( a matching jacket and skirt in burgundy silk for $300). That is just me though because I know it is not in my way of life to wear dresses very much and I have realised I own too many! For those who wear dresses a lot the economics will be different.

The colour and stitching is really cool isn’t it La Pedestrienne.

Jenn - I agree re the 70s influence. I have a soft spot for opaque tights but they can read a bit young at times. I like the joy of the red here.

Minaminu - that’s lovely. But Cos don’t ship to NZ.... the shape of the dress is really good isn’t it!

I like that shirtdress. The pocket flaps and contrasting stitching give it that 70s vibe, so look out for those on other items. I'm reading that 70s influences are on the horizon in a big way, so the coming seasons could be a windfall for you!

The pattern in #2 reminds me of some of Boden's summer patterns. Romantic, coastal holidays.

Always love wrap dresses. I think they remind me of my mom in the 70s and 80s. I can smell her Charlie perfume every time I see a dress like that.

I'm less sold on the opaque tights. That still looks juvenile to me, but maybe it's something my eye needs to adjust to.

I love the shape of the dress but it is fairly expensive. I think for polyester and a delicate fabric it is beyond my budget - if it was linen I would be more interested!! But I do like the idea of this type of dress for summer.

I adore the Cue dress, so you picked right! But poly is difficult for me outside of winter. I can tolerate it in skirts but it makes me quite hot and sticky in the upper body. Sad :(

I do think you could wear this sort of dress. You could always undo the top button (or more if you are daring!) for a bit more figure flattery. The colour is lovely.

Good point Shevia. Dresses are an easier fit for me than pants or jeans but the appeal of this one is the sleek fit........My short waist could be a problem too. I could also see this on Angie but maybe in the ink blue

https://www.cue.cc/nz/Shop/Pro.....S20/480051

ETA Just seen it is 100% polyester and a delicate fabric. I will hold off as too expensive when I want a hard wearing summer dress that could be damaged and could get too hot on humid days.

Cue shirtdress. I love the colour and the shape and I want this. Would be perfect for lots of occasions. I also want the model's hair

Karen Britchick instagram. Karen can make anything look good. Love this summer dress with birkenstocks. I would want thick shoulder straps instead of off the shoulder but I love the colour and happy pattern

Rubyandrain - I don't know this label but I found it through Meaghan Kerr on one of those instagram detours that we can all take. I really love the shape of this dress - the vee neck and wrap style.

Meaghan Kerr instagram pic. Red dress with matching red tights. Such a happy combo and makes me think about trying matching opaques and dresses if I can find the right tones. I usually wear either black or nude but wine would be great with my wine coloured dress........

I will add at least one spring/summer dress. I am tempted to try the Cue one as it would be good for work. But not sure if the short sleeve and high neck will work on me (I could see it on Brooklyn!)

ETA - it is a Cue dress not Veronika Maine so I have edited the post. I thought it was Veronika Maine which is a sister label.
