Thank you for your comments. I bought the Esprit dress and am just waiting on the Great Plains one so I can do a mini-photo shoot!

Ele - my shoes are black, stain closed toe pumps. I also have a pair of peep toe cage sandals that might work, but because I will be wearing hose, I would prefer something with a closed toe. I don't have anything in colour or metallics, so perhaps there might have to be another shopping trip...

Blonde Ambition - I'm not sure what you mean by jersey? The Great Plains dress is made of satin and so is the Esprit dress.

Tansie - My sister has been over to see me once while we have been living in London, but it is very easy to keep in touch. I am really looking forward to seeing my grandmothers the most!

I love the espirit dress!
The first dress is lovely but if it doesn't fit just right I don't think you should get it. The third dress is also very nice, but if you have big boobs the high neckline may not be the most flattering. The espirit dress has a nice v neckline, I love the sash and black and white is always sophisticated. You haven't been home in four years!! Have you seen your sister in that time? I think that will be an emotional trip! xx

The espirit dress is lovely...I especially love the sash, how it emphasizes the waist and drapes down! I echo Angie, order all three and take pics so we can see how great you look in them!

When I asked Angie for advice on a wedding dress last year she advised not to wear jersey for weddings. These dresses both seem to be made of jersey although I can't see the esprit dress.

I'm also chiming in to be utterly unhelpful! I love all the dresses, Fi- it will really depend on how they fit and what kind of look you're going for. What are your shoes like? I see fun, bright pumps working with either of the black-and-white ones, and maybe something more neutral (a metallic?) with the Great Plains one.

I'm battling to see the Esprit dress but that's okay because I love the other dresses!

I am going to be no help at all because both frocks have great potential and you never can tell with a dress until you pop it on. I say order both :0)

Thanks for your input Julie - this is the esprit dress - http://senduit.com/ce9421

The tux jacket is very elegant, but I am really looking for a longer one. I think that I am too short waisted to pull off that style, and it is too military looking for me. I could actually see it on you though!

Edited to add - the link will ask you to download a pdf document that I have saved the dress as.

Fi, the espirit dress is only linking to the home page, but I love the other two options. I have a slight preference for the third dress because you would have enough budget to add a tuxedo jacket and a long necklace to balance the higher neckline.

I'm looking forward to the pics

In April I am going home (to NZ) for the first time in 4 years to attend my sister's wedding - so for the past couple of months I have been looking for a suitable dress...I want something that makes me look elegant yet not over dressed, my age (30) without looking 40!

My Mum is wearing red, so that is out and the bridesmaids will be in grey. My budget is £100, but I would like to not spend quite so much. I don't need to buy shoes as I have some pumps from Marks and Spencers that are comfortable and work well.

What else...the wedding is in a Catholic church, but churches are not overly formal in New Zealand (wearing micronets wouldn't offend if we are going by that standard). It will be the middle of autumn, so probably at the most 16 degrees celcius and Wellington is known for its wind! The reception is in the evening.

My first choice of dress was this one from Phase Eight - http://www.phase-eight.co.uk/f.....lour=black
it fit perfectly, except for the straps being set too close together - I have big boobs, wide shoulders and a wide rib cage.

My second option is this dress from Esprit - similar in colour to the Phase Eight dress, cheaper, but I am not sure about the bow - http://www.esprit.co.uk/?LKZ=G....._SB_40_001 .

My third option is this dress from a site suggested by Julie - http://www.greatplains.co.uk/p.....+Dress.htm I am not sure about the neckline, I have ordered it though. This is the style of dress that I would like a tuxedo jacket to wear over the top.

I also have a dress and a skirt in my wardrobe that I will try and post photos of this weekend, when we get our new laptop. I would appreciate your initial thoughts...

Thank you and sorry for the long post.

Fi
