Oh wow, Beth Ann, this is tremendously helpful! I had no idea anyone else around here was even trying Kiyonna's stuff. Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm now even more excited for the dress' arrival! Did you get the same colour? If so, how did it look irl?
Your reply

I ordered a long version of this dress to try as performance apparel. I loved it, but sent in back. As a maxi, it was just too "lounge like" for being on stage. I would not hesitate to wear a knee length, since skin adds the necessary structure to the look. The fabric was quite nice and stretchy, and I was glad I ordered the OX. At a size 14, it was almost too big for me. It wrapped over my bust far more than the model, so cleavage wasn't as much of a worry. I also found the waist was not high on me (and I'm slightly long waisted) as it was on the model.

Good luck!

Thanks, everyone.
I've gone ahead and ordered it because I strongly suspect I'll kick myself if I don't at least check it out. Wrap dresses are so variable in fit that I really think I'll need to see how it works on my specific dimentions. This, of course, is the beauty of them in many respects...but it has its drawbacks when trying to make a guess based solely on online picks! Still, it does sound promising and I admit to being a little excited to try this on. In a perfect world, this will wind up being a versatile frock that can easily be dressed up or down. A lot will depend on fabric, since I'm just constitutionally unable to feel appropriately dressy in material that doesn't have a certain silkiness to it, but we shall see!
Your reply

Michelle, both dresses looks as though they have similar necklines and tie placements, so I think that the blue one has a lot of potential. I agree that the green one has a slightly different vibe because of the high-low hem, but they are not all that different. The blue one also has some vertical darts below the bust that might make it fit very nicely. And I agree that although the model in the blue dress is showing cleavage, it's not clear how it will fit you until you try it on (she is quite busty). I think the color is lovely, and given that the green one fits you so well, I think it's a no-brainer to try the blue one out! Good luck.

I think the green dress might read as more dressy because it has a high-low hem. Also, the model is wearing a huge statement necklace with lots of shine and sparkle. It's hard to ignore the necklace when looking at the picture, and she just looks more dressed up than the model wearing the blue dress. In the photo, the dress is flowing very nicely, showing off the hem. Who knows if it hangs that way in real life?

The blue dress is lovely. The model wearing the blue dress is showing cleavage (too much for me, but I'm in the no-cleavage-at-all camp). I think it's hard to tell what it would be like on you until you tried it on. Your body shape will affect the wrap and also affect where the waistline falls -- it is definitely higher than the natural waist, though.

I think the hi-low gives the nod of a dress with a train on it and gives it a glam feel maybe. The second one also looks like a lower tie on the true waist line.
The model is pretty well endowed - think the bust size makes a big difference to the wrap. They could equally be the dress of your dream because that personally owned bling arsenal will be the killer items won't they?
I wish I dreamt new outfits.:)

This is very interesting, guys.
What is it about the green one that makes it read as more dressy? The fabric is not formal in any way, shape or form. It feels like substantial t-shirt fabric. It's fabulously comfortable, and it drapes like a dream, but on mine it's already starting to pill a little bit. That's a major reason why I had ruled it out as wedding guest apparel.
Your reply

The green one also looks slightly dressier to me (as Cheryl said) -- I can't tell about the fabric, but the cut feels dressier, and the green is so beautiful. I love the floatiness of it and it would look wonderful with gold accents.

I do also like the blue a lot. I'm not a color expert so I wouldn't dare to tell you if it's cobalt or not! But it's pretty!!!

Michelle, I think the dress in your second post looks more dressy to me. It's more billowy and floaty if that makes sense.

At least in the photo on dress one, the blue looks very pretty, but it's a little dark to be a true cobalt. The models in both dresses are pretty busty, and the ties are under the bust.

I think both dresses, and especially with your pearl and gold accessories will look wonderful for attending a wedding.

Sharon, I would absolutely consider either a cami or an alteration to make it work right.
Hmm...I was hoping for more of a waist-tying kind of wrap. Something like this dress from the same designer, which was insanely perfect but with too casual a fabric for a wedding:
http://www.kiyonna.com/plus-si.....s/13121805
Your reply

It looks like more of a royal blue, a little darker than what I think of as cobalt. Still a very pretty color of blue that I think would be flattering on you. The wrap isn't especially low-cut. On the model, the waist is high, so it's tying just under her bust. She is showing some cleavage, but I don't think that's a given, with a more moderate bustline. I think it will give good coverage.
Would you consider a cami with it, if it were too low?

P.S. If it works, it will literally be a dream dress! Loved your story.

Have you ever had a scenario when you literally dream about a certain type of ensemble and then can't dislodge the image from your mind? This happened to me when thinking about the two summer weddings I have to attend this year.

I had a dream in which I was sporting a cobalt blue wrap dress. This part should surprise no one, since cobalt is one of my best colours and wrap dresses are both inherently flattering for my shape and particularly flexible/accommodating during a weight loss period.. In my dream, I accessorized the dress entirely with items in either gold or white pearl, all of which I own. Gold sparkly sandals, told clutch, and a matching set of gold/pearl earrings and bracelet. I own the accessories already, which made the dream feel even more surreal...but a cobalt wrap dress? That I don't have...for now.
I just discovered this dress from a designer that has worked well for me in the past. I would like your take on it. How does it look? Is it a solid cobalt colour? Is the neckline revealing beyond hope or could a seamstress sort out any modesty issues?

http://www.amazon.com/Kiyonna-.....B00F497WNA
