Cocolion, I haven't tried the fit on the Docs - that's too bad that they don't come in half sizes. I usually wear a 9, but sometimes an 8.5 so the no-half-sizes might ruin it for me too.

Good idea, Rabbit - these won't be a daily shoe but will be a weekend shoe. They might make an OK semi-hiking boot, too. They're not sold as "water resistant" but I stepped in a puddle today and nothing leaked through.

Aubergine, that's my plan - using these as a "gateway" to see how much I'll wear them before trying the better quality version. The floral Docs are canvas, though, not leather like the solid color Docs. I'd love to see both boots (Target and Docs) side by side to compare.

Thank you, Firecracker :)

I can see why those had to come home with you!

I've definitely bought Target shoes before that end up being a "gateway" to a better quality version once I've seen that I'll wear them.

Cute girly punk outfit! I do this a lot -- put my trend toe in the water with something cheap first. The main benefit of converting to a higher grade item is overall greater happiness factor, once I've decided I like the trend. Happiness usually comes from better fit and better fabric.

I have not been able to fit Docs on my feet for 30 years. I wore them in the 80s but my feet have gotten a bit bigger and wider since, and they don't come in half sizes so I'm in that in-between-sizes purgatory. Believe me I wish they worked as they are a fantastic, slip-resistant work shoe.

I love the outfit! Very cute. For 'statement' shoes like this that don't go with every outfit I try to look for lower price points too, because while I like wearing them, they aren't a daily shoe and I want to save my shoe money for shoes that need to hold up for more intense wearing. If it turns out to be a daily shoe or to start showing wear fast, the Docs might be a good upgrade.

Those are cute, and they look great with the plaid sweater and jeans. And I think this whole outfit looks even more stylish set off by your new glasses.

Good point, Dianthus, but I think the Docs are probably better quality. These are good but they are a heavy vinyl-made-to-look-like-fabric. Plus I like the soles on the Docs better.

I think they are cute but if you wear them a lot and they are comfortable (which I assume they would be if you wear them a lot), why bother to upgrade?

So I was in Target last night for misc. toiletries and saw these cute boots (now that's never happened to any of you, right?). On the way home, I kept thinking "These look so familiar! Where? When?" And then it hit me - they look a lot like the Dr. Martin's that I've had in my cart/out of my cart/in/out/out/in/out at Zappos for a long time now. I know some of you on YLF wear Doc Martins and I have always admired them on you. I'm not really a florals gal, but the floral ones are the ones that caught my eye.

If I end up wearing these a lot, I think I'll bite the bullet and purchase the real deal next!

Worn today (for a road trip to Cooperstown) with plaid F21 side zips sweatshirt (the back is solid gray) and Gap BFs.
