Alecia - no problem! I'm sure my husband would be glad to chat with your husband. Rick started off in a band (of course!) and then transitioned to engineering to make a living, but he's still a guitarist at heart.

What fun, Tarzy! Thanks for the update. and so glad you felt like you and fab. Here's another thing I got an email about in LA that should be "arty farty" as Angie likes to say : http://www.heathceramics.com/go/heath/los-angeles/

It's the opening of the Heath Ceramics studio/store in Los Angeles. It looks beautiful. I've been an admirer of their pottery and got to go to their factory store in Sausalito last May, and got some great dishes.

You looked great, tarzy. I do really love a touch of animal print. I never thought I'd be saying that, but it's true.

Thank you for the report. It sounds like a fun event. It's amazing how the internet is making the style world smaller, but how different cities still appropriate a little different take on things.

On a totally different subject (and tell me if you don't want to go here), my husband and I have wondered about the opportunities for studio musicians. (He's a guitar player up in Sacramento, but continuing to look for new opportunities.) Would you be willing to have an offline e-mail chat about that with me, tarzy?

I love your outfit! The scarf is a really great accessory. Also, thanks for describing the other fashions. Living in the midwest, I probably would never attend a party like that so it's interesting to hear what people are wearing over on the west coast.

So, the party last night was not so much as party as a reception.

My husband belongs to the Recording Academy (he's a recording engineer) and sits on one of the committees, so we were invited to preview the new Grammy Museum in downtown LA. The invitation said "Downtown Party Chic."

The fashion was typical LA - funky, artistic, individual. Angie would have really enjoyed herself (and she would have fit right in.)

There was a wide variety of looks - not one trend. Lots of layers - leggings and boots, dresses and boots, skinnies and boots, wrap dresses in wild patterns, lots of jeans and fancy tops. No one looked "dressed up," but everyone seemed very comfortable with their "look." One woman wore a black cocktail dress with a feathered hat - very MAD MEN. Another young woman (early 20's) wore a fab long white fake fur coat - obviously fake but not cheap looking at all. I asked her if I could pet her coat. It fit her like a glove and looked so great on her. Another woman (a friend of my husband's) had a huge long coat that was some kind of big furry wool. She's very tall and carried it off very well. (I would look like a Wookie in something like that.) Her husband is a throw back to the 60's - he was wearing a long velvet coat and tight black pants (think Mick Jagger.) Very rock and roll.

The men were definitely fab! Converse was the shoe of choice for 90% of the men under 30. Lots of skinny jeans or pegged pants on the men. And tons of scarfs on the men. For some reason men in the music industry love scarfs. Maybe it's the "Maestro" thing? Lots of scarfs wrapped in the front or scarfs tossed over the shoulder. A few women with scarfs but not nearly as many. One man, probably mid 50's had the most amazing white leather trench coat - very Euro looking.

I felt I was dressed just fine, although honestly - I could have worn a ball gown and tiara and no one would have blinked. I love my new leopard scarf. I felt like I was "me." I hope this is a way to look funky at 50 without overdoing it.

http://i387.photobucket.com/al.....G_0217.jpg

Also - the museum was really fun. I highly recommend it if you're a music fan, and you find yourself in LA. There were lots of interactive exhibits that talk about the history of sound recording and the music industry, stage costumes, instruments of famous musicians, old sheet music from noted musicians, and lots of information about the Grammy's - a lot of interesting stuff!
