I just wanted to say thanks for the reminder about donating to DFS, especially as some people are posting about closet purges. I like knowing about such places. I have much less turnover in my closet than I did say a decade ago when the Goodwill was just two blocks from my then apartment. But I did just find out that a consignment store in my now suburban town also takes donations and gives them to a women's shelter, if and when I do have some things to give.

YES! I've been doing this for 22 years. It makes a meaningful difference. Nice to see you, Gretchen

I used to be on the board of DFS Seattle, and volunteered there for years. As a personal dresser and sorter. In my experience, all sizes and types of clothing are worth donating (casual and dressy). In our local DFS, petites and plus sizes are in great demand. US Sizes 12 to 16 are particularly popular.

Hi All,

If you are thinking of donating clothing in the New Year, may I recommend your local Dress for Success location?

I started volunteering for my local group last year and have seen first hand the impact these donations have. Volunteering also educated me more on the types of clothing needed. While there are needs for interview clothes, many women need clothing after they land a position, which might be in an office, or in a school, or in a more casual environment, so jeans, tops and toppers are always needed.

Thanks for your consideration. Here’s a link to find your local group. https://dressforsuccess.org/affiliate-list/
