i second chadya suggestion to ask at your church/temple, but you need to ask the right person---i know that at my temple, the rabbi or social action committee would know who in the community is in need, and how to get cloths to them, but the office staff would not. also want to suggest that your pediatrician may know of groups that would be in need.

Freecycle is always a good option to get rid of stuff you don't want, but in this case I would start with trying to find out who in you area works with mothers in need and go from there. If you are on Facebook perhaps a post inquiring or call your church/temple

Sometimes the local hospital (public especially) will either take the donations or know who to take them to, sometimes childrens' and family services run by the county or local state branch will also know.

Check with the local Ronald McDonald House if you have one, as well as women's shelters and small, local food pantries. Usually the larger food pantries deal only in food, but small and sometimes religious or church based food pantries also are happy to have baby items. If you are affiliated with any religious organizations, ask if there is anything or anyone they are collecting for.

Families adopting from overseas also are often asked to bring new or like-new baby clothing and items with them, so if you know of any families who are adopting or adoption agencies, they might be willing to take things, too.

Yes contact the women's shelter. I am in a different country but can I tell you that well cared for and/or new baby clothes are such a blessing to some people. I have seen people donate baby clothes that have food and/or poo stains...honest.

Agree with Claudia, The local women's shelter took all my gently used baby/pregnancy clothes, opened diaper blocks, hand pump, nursing pillow, and much more. The gentleman who took it out of the back of my car seemed very grateful.

I've had similar issues with my 9 lb babies. I donated baby clothes and maternity clothes to a local Spanish-speaking church that sends regular shipments to Guatemala. IMO opinion, it makes more of an impact there than in the local Goodwill in my HCOL area.

Are there any schools in your area that cater to pregnant teenage mothers. I volunteered to tutor and supervise in a local out-reach program for these young moms-to-be in our area. Most of the young women were on very tight budgets and we were always searching for clothing that would fit newborns, along with other baby items to help them out. Maybe your local hospital or health agency can put you in touch with similar programs in your community?

Do you have a local freecycle list? You could post them and see if there's another mom who would be able to use them and then pass them on.

Contact the women's shelters in your area. Some cater to homeless pregnant women, others to women fleeing domestic abuse along with their babies and children. The staff will tell you if they'd like to take your items. I'd think there would be a need and they'd be really appreciated.

Local churches or church groups might also be able to direct a donation of this type.

Both of my daughters were well over 9 pounds when born. At 5 weeks, DD2 is already outgrowing 0-3 months (she never fit newborn).

This has left me with a lot of outfits worn once, or never worn (washed though and all ready!)

I normally donate to Goodwill as it is easy. But, frankly, it does little to help others. At least, where I live

Wondering if there is another charity better about maybe just giving the clothes to those who need them. I know they don't still have have tags on them, but I am not kidding when I say they were either never worn or worn once, maybe twice. Most are 100% cotton from Carter's, Oshkosh B'gosh, and Little Me.

Or, perhaps there is not much need for baby clothes as they don't wear them long.
