Laura- thanks for the link! I always learn something I didn't think I was seeking on this site. I'm going to have to study my proportions more; I have no idea what I am!

Diana- It's so hard to see, but this skirt also looks like it had a structured high waist, which might help any pooch issues. I am hoping the draping will be a good thing.

I have been trying not to buy anything new until I SYC totally and set my path. But these skirts are just too cute and definitely in the style direction I want to go. I may just have to suck it up and order!

PS- I think this type of tulip/cocoon shape skirt actually makes a good pencil skirt substitute for pears. You still get the narrower hem but with more booty room!

I like this shape and I am an hour pear, so yes, I think it would work. This is actually similar in shape to the dress I wore today (in my most recent wiw) but longer. I do have a high hip shelf and I actually think it works better for this type of shape because it provides the structure for the hip pleats to sit correctly, if that makes sense.

I don't have much belly though; I could imagine that a belly might make the pleating trickier to manage (but it could still work).

I can only speak for myself, but as another hour-pear, the first skirt would never work for me. The pleats would spread and it would emphasize my hips/tummy in an unpleasant way. The second one, maybe, if it fits properly through the waist/hip. I can imagine these working for summer since they are a lightweight, floaty fabrication.

Are you more of an 8, or a X, in Imogen Lamport's categorization? That can make a big difference, whether your hips make a 'high shelf' or whether your widest part is lower. After I found out I'm an 8, it has helped me figure out which hourglass recommendations work for me and which don't. http://www.insideoutstyleblog.com/

So, I guess my body type is somewhere between an hourglass and a pear- I feel more pear. Anyway, another member introduced me to this brand and I have been visiting these skirts every other day. Wondering if these could work on my shape or could they possibly look like a "dropped hourglass" (from the waist down).

(Sorry to give links only- I can't figure out how to copy these photos directly)
http://ronenchen.com/us/atlanta-skirt.html

http://ronenchen.com/us/ava-skirt.html

Also, could these work in the summer? Thinking perhaps with a light colored flowy shirt and peeptoe booties?
