I like it. I would pair it with brown leggings and brown leather sandals. You know, Jesus-style sandals. They would provide the link to the 70s and the leggings would pull it into the present, and make the shortness of the dress seem a little less young, if you know what I mean. A wood pendant on a leather cord would also help to counteract the girliness of it (which I am not knocking, BTW), and also evoke the hippy vibe, while staying more modernly sleek. I hope I am making sense here...

It IS short--does that work for you?

Other than that, I like the suggestions that aim toward making it less sweet, but not so much by using black boots or other cool colors one might use with white. More of the warm neutrals going for the lace/brown leathers/tweed-type combos. Even then, the trapeze style wouldn't be my first choice for lace for that, so I'm no help. Or you may just like the mini-dress look as it is.

All good suggestions & questions ladies, thanks. I'm going into a Summer vacation in Oz so I didn't try tights but I could wear it as a tunic on cooler days. It is too short to belt but it is supposed to be a 60s 70s mod style dress, short & unbelted. As far as my style goals go I like 60s 70s fashion. See this pic taken of Linda Ronstadt in the 70s when she lived here in Topanga. I know she is probably much younger then than I am now & maybe that is what I should be considering.

I asked about shoes etc as I didn't want to look too costumey by wearing all 60s or 70s. I usually do that but have learned on YLF that retro should be mixed with modern, which is why I paired it with booties. I have worn it before with a floppy hat & tan Frye campus boots, which is more 70s. The angel sleeves & lace make it more 70s than 60s mod, though the trapeze started in the 60s I think

Lovely dress. I had one very similar before I gained weight and grew out of it. Still looking for a replacement. I'm with Laura in that it would be fabulous over jeans. Not just skinny jeans, either but boot cut jeans, too. Either way, wear your highest heel boots for max leg lengthening effect. Enjoy your dress.

Cheers

I like it on you, but is it a touch on the sheer side? It looks fantastic with those booties - you have great legs. As far as styling, maybe boho with brown boots and a jean jacket or go tough/sweet with leather leggings?

I love what Andrea put together for you. Wow, what interest. Otherwise, I'd try black opaque tights/leggings and throw a denim jacket on top.

I think if you add a belt, it might become too short. But I love the texture, and I don't think it NEEDS a belt.
It would be fun to experiment with a winter white outfit...

It looks lovely on you!

How about with some different patterns, colours and textures - ie tapestry/leopard/fur?
As per my attached pic. I think the toning colours pull it all together - ie the berry leggings, brown leopard and tapestry detailing on the bag.

Hope this is some help.
