I like the booties, not sure about the shaft.

Una has fabulous points.

For me, personally, I don;t like a shaft that high. It rubs against my shin. And, I wear my booties int he colder months. That usually means tucking under straight leg or boot cut trousers. As such, I really like them to end at the ankle.

But your climate is kinder and you may be able to wear dresses and skirts without needing knee high, shearling lined boots ;)

This was us last year.

I absolutely sympathize with your desire for a single pair of all-[-purpose booties. I searched high and low for mine and didn't find them until last year when the Munro Robyn style came out. For me it was essential to have a pair with the right heel height and that could go with my numerous skirts and dresses. Tucking skinnies wasn't crucial, because I generally only tuck when the weather is truly inclement and by then I have different footwear needs. I guess at the end of the day I'm suggesting the same thing as Una - identify your personal criteria for your perfect pair of booties and see if these fit the bill. Don't discount the importance of comfort and shaft height, either. Certain heights could have worked out well for me but just made me feel like I had something caught around my leg in an awkward spot. :)

I find a shorter shaft bootie more versatile personally, because it goes under straight legs/bootcuts and with tights to wear with skirts and dresses. I don't wear them with skinnies, though - that's not a look that appeals to me personally. I wear tall boots over skinnies, or flats if it's not too cold.

The only pair of mid shaft boots I've owned hit me mid calf, with sorta a cowboy boot vibe, and I wore them either under jeans, or with dresses or skirts for a stompy casual vibe.

HAHA! Trust me, I'm not wise, it's just that I've gone through SO MANY booties! I've finally got a collection I love and nothing I don't love, but it's still hard not to fall for the next pretty thing. I will say I find a low mid-shaft the hardest to wear (an 8-9 inch shaft for me), as it cuts my lower leg right in half.

Una, you are so wise. I guess I need to think about how I want to wear them then decide if the shaft meets those needs. I guess I want an all purpose go with every scenario boot but I suppose that is asking a lot of one lowly pair of shoes :)

The good news is that I do have several pairs of lower shaft booties, so perhaps the taller shaft is a good option for me. I know I could wear straight leg jeans over these. And they didn't look terrible with the rolled BFs.

Lots to think about. Not pulling the trigger immediately is hard but worth it.

Thanks for your insight.

I don't think there are many "all purpose booties". I have booties as follows:

1. Shorter or taller fitted shaft: These work with dresses/skirts or to wear under pant hems or with rolled hems, but can't tuck into them. (see examples below)

2. Taller loose shaft: for tucking skinnies or for certain dress/skirt looks but don't work under pant hems. (Will have to find pics but examples would be my Frye harness boots - of course I don't do a lot of bootcuts).

Happy Friday, Fabbers!

I'm on a quest to find cognac booties to match a newly acquired belt. Loving the richness of the color this fall.

I found a pair locally - Pilolinos Verona - and there are many pros on the list. The only possible con is that they have a higher shaft than I was expecting to get. I have had good luck with bf jeans with lower booties (for example like the SE Petty shape), the kind that end around the ankle bone. Though I find those hard to wear with anything but rolled up jeans or leggings. I had on bf jeans when I tried these and they seemed to work though there was no real visible skin a la the shorter booties.

Thoughts on shaft height? Any insight from your own experiences?

I am trying not to buy any orphans. Thinking before buying is so hard! Lol

Link (will update from computer later)
