I attempted to dye a cotton knit top yesterday and it didnt turn out quite how I wanted it to - it's got some multi colored striped on a cream background and silly me thought the stripes would dye along with the background! As for refashioning them into something different I sometimes try that, but only if I think it will really look good in the end. I don't think there is any merit in refashioning for its own sake.
