I think I can just cut 'em off and hem 'em. My only other choice is to buy new shorts. The problem is that the vast majority of shorts in the junior dept. are "Daisy Dukes," which are not school appropriate and do not represent our family's moral values. I'm trying to raise my DDs to dress decently.</p> <p>Back in the good old days when retailers only offered jeans in one length, my mom used to cut off about 6 inches from each and every pair and then hem them to the proper length for me. She also did this with dresses that she made for me, though this was done at the time she cut out the pattern rather than after the dresses were made. Almost always, length was what has had to be altered for me.</p> <p>I keep reminding my DDs how blessed they are that jeans are now available in short, regular and tall and in both petite and regular sizes. That wasn't always the case! At least, not in the major dept. stores where we used to shop.</p> <p>Also, thank goodness for online shopping. I have a much better selection of clothing that fits me now. Lately, it's just been the normal hem "adjustments" to boot cuts. I guess the really serious hacking was about a year ago when I made several pairs of my knee high boots into cute ankle boots.
