Yeah, the website I found is all dairy free. It uses a lot of coconut water and almond or hemp milk. My baby gets really bad gas if I consume too much dairy. It's why I started using the site, and I found I like non dairy smoothies MUCH better.

http://www.rebootwithjoe.com/c.....es/page/2/

I did find my blender under powered. After 2 months of making smoothies 5-6 times a week, I sprung for a vitamix. So expensive, but so worth it! My smoothies are smoooooth.

I do have a juicer and I do like juicing. I find my use is variable, at this point, probably once a week, more on weekends. The reality is I think I feel a bit better with juicing and with a good diet generally than when I don't. If you have juice bars near you where they make juices, it might be worth it to try juices there to see if it's something that you would even like, and to see if it makes a difference in how you feel. Although some like straight vegetable juices, I usually find I like to mix fruit and vegetables. Obviously there is an upfront cost with the cost of the juicer. And vegetables that don't have much density, eg greens, can be more costly. But have to say I do like it and I do use it.

I have a friend who does it and I have tried it on my own. What I found is that the juicer I have is not good enough so I would have to invest in a quality juicer. My friend has an Omega juicer and it works wonderfully. I have seen how many veges she buys and I don't believe that I would keep up with the work that it takes to have juice on hand daily. So right now I either buy it or get it from my friend or go without. I do like the extra shot of veges.

Smoothies are a whole other thing. If you want a vege smoothie then your really want something like the Vitamix blender that really pulverizes the veges. There are a lot of options besides dairy for smoothies. You could use Almond Milk or Hemp Milk or coconut water.

Sorry I'm of no help. I just do smoothies with a high-powered blender.

Adelfa, that's what I'm afraid of...I would be like DD1!

Thistle...can you make smoothies without dairy? I usually see recipes that need milk or yogurt and I'm allergic to dairy. I was thinking the juice would be easier on my stomach, not to have to deal with raw fiber, but maybe pulverized would be okay.

I don't juice, but I do all kinds of different smoothies. I get the smoothies recipes from a juicing website.

I couldn't afford to juice during our winter months when there is no inexpensive produce. Smoothies work, though, because you can use frozen ingredients. Easier too, as they are already washed and disassembled.

I never have because I'm pretty sure I couldn't handle the overhead! DD1 bought a juicer and doesn't use it. DD2 stole one (don't ask) and uses it constantly. But she's the hypermotivated type who wouldn't let a little work stop her once she gets an idea.

Ha...the fancy juice extractor kind where you run a lot of raw vegetables though a big machine and get a little glass of juice...not the athlete gone bad on steroids kind!

I've just been thinking about it lately cause I don't think my nutrition is that great. Especially since I've been having stomach problems the past few months and I've gone to a fairly bland diet. Juicing seems like it would be a good boost...it also seems likes it would be a ton of trouble and expensive both for the machine and for the piles of vegetables, much more than you would actually eat.

So, I'm wondering if it is worth it? If you do this, have you noticed any real health benefits? Does it live up to the hype? Would I be better off getting started with just buying some bottled juice?
