Anthro typically runs a little large for me, although I would agree that their sizing is all over the place and is sometimes small. In the vast majority of cases, even if I love something on the rack at Anthro, I've not liked the way it looked on me or the way it fit. I've pretty much given up on them and am glad I never purchased anything from them online as I'm sure it would have been returned due to size problems.

Like Staysfit, I used to buy a lot from Anthropologie, but lately it's driving me bonkers with inconsistent quality, pricing, sizing and their store policies involving shipping to Canada make me want to rip my hair out.

I fit anywhere from a size XS or a 2 to a size 10 at Anthro.

I used to purchase frequently from Anthropologie, but their sizes are inconsistent as already mentioned, and their quality is also inconsistent. I try to avoid them because I end up returning most of what I purchase from them. I also have some political concerns with their leadership.

Agree that the sizing is tricky, depending too much on the individual item, but here is another Anthropologie issue I've found, almost enough to make me quit buying there. I have had more things shrink from Anthro than all other stores put together. Completely washing as instructed, but so many things I've bought shrink about a half size after the first wash. Not enough to go up to the next size, just enough to make me unhappy with the fit when before washing it was perfect. I've learned to buy things just that much bigger to compensate, and to never buy "tailored" type fit.

Concur on the inconsistency of sizes. And of quality, too, to be frank. I've gotten some great things, and I've also gotten items of very poor quality that got sent back right away.

Oh that is so kind of you Gigi. Thank you so much.

I think I am going to hold off and stick to my guns and buy local where I can try on in store. I do get tempted as some of the good NZ labels are so expensive, and the cheaper labels are of poor quality. I am on a beer budget with champagne tastes at the moment!! There are a lot of upsides with being on YLF but the downside is the lust for clothes that in honesty I do not need. I have to remember the difference between needs and wants:)

It is partly because I have put the winter woolies away for spring, and now it is freezing cold again and very miserable. I was looking at some casual toppers (cardigans/soft jackets) as this part of my wardrobe is very small. I think these spring cold snaps are so frustrating - however what we have is nothing compared to the Polar Vortex in North America last winter/spring.

If I change my mind I will come back to you.

What everyone else said.

You can e-mail customer service for measurements for a particular garment. But it does take them a few business days to get back to you. I think they have to pull the garment from their warehouse to do that. If the item is a popular one, it can sell out before you get the measurements. :(

Maybe you could e-mail the gal who runs the Effortless Anthro blog and ask her if she knows whether the specific labels you're interested in run large, small, or TTS. Actually, if you want to PM me the garments you are interested in, I can call my local Anthro store and see if they have sold them in-store and how they run for size. I will even be at Anthro tomorrow and could measure something if they have it in-store.

Agreed with Diana -- their brands' sizing is ALL over the place. Some items with fluid cuts are cut really big -- I have bought tops in a XS or a size 4 from them (Maeve being one label that seems to cut big). But they carry brands like AG jeans, etc., which are generally TTS. I would try to get info on specific items if you can.

Thanks Diana...I am not sure whether to pull the trigger or not. I usually prefer to try on in real stores because there are so many intangibles...
I will check out that blog!

Unfortunately for you, Anthro sizing is very inconsistent. They have loads of different house brands that are made in different factories with different fit models so the sizing is not consistent between the "brands".

The effortless anthropologie blog has a sizing guide here but it's from 2009 so I don't know how accurate it is anymore. She also does lots of reviews so you might gain some info there as well about specific items.

http://effortlessanthropologie.....-post.html

Otherwise I'd suggest reading the online reviews and possibly contacting CS for item measurements. Sometimes if you find an eBay seller who has the item they'll provide measurements too.

I am looking at a couple of Anthropologie items to order online. Returns will be tricky from NZ.

I am a size 12 in NZ mostly, occasionally a 14 which is either a Medium or Large here. This equates to an 8 in the US from most size charts and when in the US last year most of my pieces I bought were US Medium.

When I look at the size chart for Anthropologie I seem to be larger than an 8....does Anthropologie fit small/am I delusional on my size?
The only Anthropologie item I own is a Bailey 44 dress, size Medium. It is body con, but seems the right size as they are supposed to be fitting (I think?)

I know years and years ago the US was only one size down (I was a NZ 12 and a US10) but I thought that US had more "vanity sizing" now.
