Definition of bra;an under garment that provides coverage and support to the breasts.Definition of sports bra;an undergarment that provides support to the breasts whilst doing physical activity. So I guess a sports bra does count as a bra .whether or not you are comfortable with displaying it to your work colleagues is a very INDIVIDUAL thing I will not judge you either way.

Yeah MaryK's sports bras as camis look fine! I also had a laugh last summer because some stores - I think maybe Free People - started selling these cropped layering camis to go under the sheer and low armholed and side slit tops that emerged as festival wear. Dude, call it what it is: a sports bra!

I also used to wear sports bras every day in high school, because I had practice all. the. time. and no minutes to waste waiting for a private bathroom stall to switch bras in before warmups. They looked fine, too - though I guess I should add that I wore a lot of Dickies and A-shirts back then.

I was actually wearing this sports bra because I go work out in the PM and don't have time to strip to the skin before my workout begins - it's far easier to wear my underpinnings under regular clothing and just go. I've never minded the look of a sports bra. I don't have a big chest, and defining and lifting has never been a priority. Also I guess I don't have much body modesty, or really worry what other people at work think about what I wear. I was more interested that my brain registered this sports bra as a "not bra," not how inappropriate it was that I was wearing one. If that makes sense.

IK, you crack me up!

I have four sports bras -- two of them are by Moving Comfort and are a bit more suitable for cross-purpose wear, with defined cups and more conventional bra styling. I tend to wear them for hiking and yoga, not running (the Lululemon Ta-Ta Tamer is required to keep those girls in line for high-impact exercise!)

In a pinch, I will wear the MC for a regular day, but not the TTT's -- they kind of squash me down and together, so they look quite odd under a regular shirt.

It sounds like your bra was not so much the culprit as the cowl-neck top! Camis to the rescue!

I don't see anything wrong with it but I wouldn't want to get in the habit of it either. Just how you described your boss as "someone who wears biking pants every day!" I wouldn't want someone to describe me as "someone who wears sports bras every day!"

I'm a big believer in the power of underwear. Something about undergarments not only makes a whole outfit but gives you a certain confidence from within. On my wedding day I wore a cute pair of blue undies that said "Be kind" written on them. I don't know why, nobody could see them of course but they made me feel good. I have lucky undergarments, and I assign undergarments to various pieces of clothing. Call me crazy.

I actually find that a sports bra better than a regular for daily wear. so it counts to me, in that sense. Not a big deal disturbed by accidental exposure myself, but understand it worries bystanders

I'd be making a mental note to only wear that top with another layer under it if it was me but since it was a sports bra top and not some lacy pretty bra, most likely it wasn't noticeable.

I actually have one sports bra that gives me fabulous lifting and separating instead of uniboob. I wish I had a bunch of those.

I think it would just look like a tank, so you're fine. My sports bras make my chest look weird (squashed and unibooby) so I personally wouldn't wear them under my regular clothes. But if you look fine in yours, then I don't see a problem.

I admit this wasn't my finest fashion moment. I was just surprised how little it bugged me. I was like, oh, it's just my SPORTS BRA and hiked the cowl back up. Maybe I'm lacking a modesty gene.

I would never wear a sports bra under real clothes. I try to keep my gear completely separate from my real clothes. Plus, even with cups in my sports bra, I still look as flat chested as a man. It does nothing for the fit!

I can see why you didn't freak out though. There's been times in the summer when it's so hot, that I want to go out walking in my sports bra without a tank on top. It covers me up, and all the cool kids are doing it, right? Maybe if if wasn't white......nah. Better not.

I wouldn't wear a sports bra as a regular bra either, but come to think of it - in the right colour/style - it would serve as a cami/tank in a way, wouldn't it? I can see this working out (pun not intended) quite well, actually!

Hmm, I'm not quite sure I understand either. I've worn sports bras like @k can shop as a partial cami, but only the top shows. Showing all the way to the bottom seems like a lot and I think I would be uncomfortable if I was in a meeting with someone who was showing that much of their chest. Not sure I quite understand the situation though.

Yeah, K, I mean it dipped below the bottom of the bra. I wasn't crazy about the skin showing, but the bra showing I didn't mind. Those things are like breastplates in my mind.

When you say breast band, do you mean the bottom of the bra? I wear sports bras under some items where a full cami isn't needed. The top shows and looks like a cami. That doesn't bother me in the slightest. I never wear them where you could see the whole length (top to bottom) of the bra, though. I don't mind seeing running bra/tops when people are working out or during yoga class, but I wouldn't be a fan in the workplace. That's me, though, so feel free to disregard.

I wore a sports bra under my cowl neck top today. At several points during my endless meetings today, I noticed that my cowl neck had actually dipped to the point where it was showing the breastband of the bra, and a little bit of skin under that. No breastage, everything absolutely opaque. Now, if this had been even one of my tshirt bras from the gap, which still shows nothing, I would have been mortified. But because this was a sports bra, and technically gear, I shrugged, hoisted up the cowl, and got on with life. I would never have worn *just* a sports top, but revealing one doesn't seem so bad. Am I insane?

And yes, where I work is very, very casual. There's no issue with my gear being inappropriate in a workplace where the head producer wears biking pants every day!
