Joy having just tried to blow dry my hair myself this morning I think that you might be right about the dryer. I could not replicate the smoothness of the stylist.

Anne, you look beautiful! Your hair has body and shine.
I have read that the type of blow dryer makes a difference too. The professional ion ones keep hair smooth. The article I was reading was for those who need volume, and they advised that those women should not use the fancy dryers because they needed the "frizzies" for volume and could smooth the top with a bit of light weight product.

When I get a blowdry, it actually looks better the morning after. Of course it depends on your hair type but you can make it work even a couple extra days with the help of some dry shampoo or hair spray ;DD

I'm late chiming in here... But often when I get a blow out, I will leave it for 4-5 days. It's nice to keep that smooth look for a while. Btw your staff photo looks excellent.

You look great!

My hair is thick and wavy so volume is never my problem; professional blowouts always get my hair a lot straighter and more tidy than I can manage myself, even with a blow dryer and a flat iron.

Lovely photo, Anne!

So, how did the blowout look the next day? Inquiring minds want to know... my hair is fine like yours. Blowouts do not last. However, it takes such very little time to blow dry my hair in the morning, I do it myself every day.

If the issue tomorrow is volume, try a little bit of teasing at the crown or roots and some hairspray. If you end up with kinks or bends, use a flat iron. If it's flat and you want more volume throughout, turn your head upside down and spray a light mist of flexible hold hairspray all over. Dry shampoo is your best friend also!

ETA: If you had the stylist put any kind of wave or slight curl at the ends (a la Duchess Catherine) pin your hair up overnight in a very loose bun on top of your head, DO NOT use a pony tail holder only bobby pins, and make sure the bends in your hair are going the right direction in the bun.

I've had long hair for a while, and usually blow dry it myself, and only wash it once or twice a week. I'm a pro at styling

Thanks everyone - and especially Joy for getting back to me.
Your responses led me to get the blow dry done - it does look nice (so much better Deborah than on Monday when we met).
The hairdresser warned me that on my hair (straight, blond and thin) that the blow dry effect won't completely stay overnight but she did do what she could to make it try.
Joy I am definitely going to try your tip!!
I'll let you know tomorrow how it went.
Thanks!

Anne, yes, I meant in addition to the blow dry. It just seems to give some life if hair got limp overnight. I often use a few spritzes of a volumizer spray but my hair is no longer thick. Sleeping on a silk pillow case also helps.

Yep! If the stylist does a good job, and uses a product that isn't going to make your hair overloaded, it should last 3 days before you feel like you have to wash it. If its just for the night, you should be ok...

To add to the other Fabbers comments it also depends on the stylist. My hair would last a few days but I have had a few stylists that blew my hair dry and the next day it looked awful. So I had to wash it.

Depends on your hair. If you are having your hair blow-dried straight and smooth, I think you will be fine.

I have very curly Negroid hair and have it professionally blow dried each week. It lasts well for the whole week providing humidity is low and I keep out of any rain. I always wrap it in a thick towel to shower. Moisture is the enemy if you want it to last. Otherwise, you should be fine.

The few that I've had have lasted overnight, sometimes even two nights! Dry shampoo is great for extending the look into day three.

You might try flipping your hair forward and blowing it with a dryer in the morning, maybe with some hairspray if you want some volume.

In my experience, yes. It might not look as perfect in the morning as it did right after being done, but it'll be noticeably better than if you didn't have it done.

I think the longer your hair is the easier for a blowdry to last through the night; and I suppose it also depends on your hair texture and how you sleep.
