I think Dr. Martens are usually a bit chunkier, more robust looking, and they often are actually a little bit heavier on your feet. They have a fun selection of styles, but not really many dressy options, that's the biggest difference I see between them and Miz Mooz.

I know many people who have had their Docs for years and years, the quality is outstanding.

I love lots of Miz Mooz styles too and have a few myself. In the past I didn't always find them super comfortable, but that has improved a lot with the last few collections. They have dressy and more casual options and often shoes in fun, bright colours. I haven't had mine long enough to say how durable they are, but so far, so good!

Prices for both brands are quite reasonable, in my opinion.

I definitely wouldn't hesitate to buy again from both brands.

Chiming in to say that I'm a huge MM fan. I love their sandals and boots for their style and comfort. I don't have any experience (yet) with DM but I like their chunky/funky style : )

I haven't tried Miz Mooz, but I think Docs tend to be too deep for my feet (I have a low instep). So it depends on the shape of your foot to some extent.

I have a pair of Miz Mooz boots
http://www.amazon.com/Miz-Mooz.....38;sr=1-59
and Doc Marten oxfords http://www.6pm.com/product/7923825/color/147
(have had many other styles in the past) and these on order:
http://www.6pm.com/product/7924195/color/249579
As others said they are very different with Docs being bigger and sturdier and MM being more tailiored. I love the Miz Mooz look but have found different styles to fit me differently.
These were amazingly buttery soft and beautiful, but just a tad too long in my size (10)http://www.amazon.com/Miz-Mooz-Womens-Salima-Open-Toe/dp/B0043OXKCO/ref=sr_1_50?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1320153293&sr=1-50
they fell off while walking and they don't make a 9.5
Docs seem more consistent in sizing in the ones I've had - they never seem small or narrow as I have found with a few Miz Mooz. but they can be large and clunky in comparison.

I don't have Miz Moos but I now have 2 pairs of Doc Martens. They are the most comfortable boots I own and are easily 12 hour shoes for me. I wear a UK 6.5 so went for the 7's which probably accounts for the fact that I didn't have to break them in. I wore them during the snow last year. Due to them being a titch too big I added an insole and wore 2 pairs of socks and for the first time ever my feet stayed snuggly and warm, even on playground duty at work for an hour!! x

What Mo said - they are totally different.

Docs are extremely durable. They, IIRC, were originally designed as industrial footwear. It shows! The are tough, hardy shoes and boots. The shoes are often somewhat chunky and clunky.

Miz Mooz are soft and refined. NOT industrial wear and would not take a beating the way Docs will. But they're not meant to. I feel Miz Mooz have much more variety in terms of style.

I feel they are fairly even with regards to quality and comfort. Docs need to break in, MMs don't IME. Sizing is different. Cost is comparable.

They fill different needs - why pick just one?

I think my pairs are very different. The Miz Mooz are finer, softer leather, and the Docs are quite stiff and can hold up to any and all conditions. The Mooz are high heeled and my Docs have the famous Air Wear soles - so again, very different. The Docs are English size 5 (I am US 7.5) so they are not a perfect fit. The Mooz fit me true to size.
My pairs are not an either/or. It's like sneakers vs slingback pumps - just not the same animal!

I don't have Doc Martens...yet...so can't compare, but I suspect that Miz Mooz are easier to incorporate into my wardrobe. The pair I have are exceptionally well made, comfortable, true to size and cute. The price seems very reasonable for the quality, comfort and stylishness. Probably the same could be said of DM's

Curious to see what everyone has to say about Doc Martens vs. Miz Mooz in the following categories:

1. Comfort (especially for walking)
2. Quality (how well they're made, how long they last)
3. Sizing (true to size, range of sizes)
4. Range of styles
5. Cost
6. If you could only buy one pair, which would you buy?
