Thank you ladywone and Greyscale. So it sounds like I am sizing down too much, I should go for the UK 4 instead of UK 3. I could also try both sizes.

ladywone I am glad to hear I'm not the only one who needs real work shoes.

The last time I had Docs was in the mid 80s. They were a pair of pointy-toe Monk strap shoes and I loved them. Perfect NYC shoe. When I moved to LA in '88, where, as the song goes "Nobody walks in LA" -- they languished in my closet.

Here is a concert version of this classic song!

My feet are exactly the size of yours. In classic men's Doc Martens sizing, I get a UK 5, which are too big, and wear wool socks. In other Docs styles, including their women's styles, a UK 4 (my regular size) fits perfectly. Next time I get classic Docs I might try the UK 4 again because it really should be right - maybe I'm just impatient about the time to break them in.

My Docs are perfect for my foot because I have a wide and I just bought a pair for work. If you do chooose to size down I would say go half a size. Because they run pretty true. But it also depends on the style.

I'm considering these as part of my work shoe capsule. I have tried other footwear for work (trainers, my Freebird oxfords) and they just don't cut it. My favorites are my Sanita clogs but sometimes I want a change.

Does anyone have opinions about the wearability of these shoes and especially, the sizing? I am considering sizing down to the smallest unisex size, the UK 3 which translates to a women's 5 or 5.5.

My real US shoe size is a 6 to 6.5 in sandals or 6.5 to 7 in boots/Euro size 37. I don't fill these shoes out in length (short toes) but need bigger sizes for everywhere else. However I have heard that Docs run wide, so a smaller size might work. I don't wear heavy socks, just thin or mid-weight, sometimes no socks with the clogs. The Sanitas are a size 36 M, the 36 Wide was too big overall, the 36 M fit me perfectly.

http://www.onlineshoes.com/men.....rial-bear-

I read the reviews that these take some breaking in time, I am ok with that. Usually the shoe that lasts the longest and molds best to my feet, takes some time to break in.
