This is one area where I am more particular - things have to be made correctly, I hate when people use a jar or a packet for things. That being said, I will eat *anything* and I am likely to enjoy it if it's delicious or surprising. I might even try cheetos with mayo. So maybe that's true with fashion as well, as my tastes are without boundaries but I am particular about how garments should look.</p> <p>Interiors: The same as my fashion sense. A bit retro, a bit pop, scandinavian, a little kitsch, lots of fun, but very minimal. I'm not a minimal dresser though.</p> <p>I am welcoming of any or all media/music/movies. I love anything that makes me laugh and is witty. I adore a good pop song and I love anything that can make me dance. I admire any artist/filmmaker/writer who can do what they do and do it well. My wardrobe is definitely more focused.</p> <p>Movies: I never, ever watch Romcoms or chick flicks, and my style is not very girly unless it's in a very self-aware cheeky way. I prefer my movies with subtitles and I tend to like Euro and Asian designers, so I guess that is consistent. I'd rather listen to NPR than watch TV most of the time. If I do watch TV, I tend to like old school shows. At least 20 years old. I don't have a vintage element to my style but I wish I did. </p> <p>Food: I like my food eye-searingly hot. I definitely do not like my clothes to be hot, literally or figuratively. But I do love both sweet and salty things equally. Not sure how that translates to clothes though...</p> <p>Home decor: I like homes that are quirky, mismatched, a little messy. Homes that are warm and full of personality and love. I absolutely loathe the kind of "home staging" makeovers they do on HGTV, and even though I do find beautifully decorated houses lovely to look at and nice to visit, I would not feel comfortable living in one. Stylewise, I am pretty messy by default. I am just physically incapable of achieving polish. And my colors mismatch. But I don't have an eclectic or mishmash style, and my looks are pretty cohesive.</p> <p>Personalitywise, I don't always think my whole being comes through on YLF. For one thing I am quite a dark person with a dark sense of humor. I'm also pretty snarky--I'm sure to a point where some of you would be appalled at just how mean I can be (or perhaps not...). My wardrobe is pretty dark, but not in a gothic way, and I also wear a lot of bright colors too--so I'm not sure if that comes through or not. Like Dawn, I am very politically opinionated (and just opinionated in general). And I'm a huge nerd. I just ordered a bunch of vocabulary workbooks--the exact same ones I used in high school--because I have been in a vocabulary rut lately and crave some new words to use!</p> <p>I think being interested in fashion is often misinterpreted as being DISinterested in everything else, or being just plain vapid. I'm passionate about old houses and I love antiques as long as they're clean lined like Federal or Gustavian styles can be. I'm not afraid of color, but the palette depends on the house. Our last house was an 1895 brick rowhouse that was painted in deep colors. Our current house, an 1843 farmhouse, cries out for a lighter look, so I've used very pale grays, blues and greens.</p> <p>Food: my tastes are pretty varied, but I prefer dishes that are fresh and simple and without too many complicated ingredients.</p> <p>Music: I love nearly anything...classic, dixieland jazz, hard rock, mainstream country, and especially 80s music. I tunelessly sing at the top of my lungs in my car but when I get home, I prefer peace and quiet.</p> <p>Books/movies: I love the classics, biographies, and any book that will fire my imagination and transport me to a different place. My house is definitely eclectic, leaning towards contemporary casual, but still a bit of everything. The walls are mostly white, but mostly because the living room/hall/foyer is going to be a huge chore, will pretty much need to be done all together (because there isn't really a good break) and the foyer is 1 1/2 stories tall and mostly stairs so that's going to be a pain. What I have painted is somewhat muted colors, which doesn't match my clothing at all! (although I'm thinking about painting a citron accent wall in the living room).
