I'm a 32G and recently lost weight... When I realized that my boobs got smaller I kind of freaked out, I felt they "deflated". I miss the fullness. Let's clarify, I don't want to change my boobs, I wouldn't have surgery and they probably still are what most people consider "big" but I still have to get used to this "new" body, and learn the new clothing and lingerie possibilities.

Nope! I'm a 34C....I'm petite and broad shouldered so I would say average. I'm happier when my weight is lower because they get smaller and things fit better. They can interfere with fitted button- ups and jackets fitting across the bust.

FB wins with the aerodynamic comment.

I'm not sure. Sometimes I do wish they were bigger to camouflage the tummy area and/or balance the hips. After two kids in less than two years they've definitely changed. I BF both but for a short amount of time. I think in my case weight gain and loss is taking a toll in addition to pregnancies and BFing. They're just not what they were say 10 years ago.

But I'm afraid of surgery in that you can't just do it once and be done. It's kind of a lifetime commitment I'm not quite ready for.

A new batch of bras is helping the situation for now. God bless whoever invented padding and push up bras. And Angie for reminding us that underpinnings are important.

Sometimes I'd like a bit smaller boobs (I'm a 34-36E, depending on weight)--it would be fun to be a bit more aerodynamic. The whole shopping for tops thing, and I like jogging, so I have to spend stupid amounts of money to get industrial-grade support. Should I ever have a baby, we'll see what that does--reduction might be in the cards one day.

But I'm reminded of something my mom told me once as a teenager. I was complaining about their size, and she fussed at me: "Be grateful--you'll be glad there's something there when you're old!"

Jem - I'm not sure what you meant by your response. I'm only talking about women who purely get fake boobs for purely cosmetic reasons. I know of other women who have gone through breast cancer only to have one or both removed. That's a perfectly fine reason to get a boob job even though some chose not to.

No thankyou to larger breasts because they are harder to deal with. I wrote a long comment describing how bras are torture to me with my short waist, but then decided I better go back and read all of the other comments before I reply, when I returned to it, it was gone, darn.
Here at YLF I have realized that I have a long torso, but a short waist with a long rise and that is why bras drive me crazy with pain. I have no room for that band to be comfortable. I'm fairly tall at 5'8" but the bras make me very uncomfortable even though I keep up with fittings at Nordstroms.
I've noticed in the old 1940's movies, the women aren't wearing bras but they look discreet, covered, yet sexy when they want to.
I have never looked at a woman and judged that her boobs are too big or too small, there's beauty in the spectrum. It's all about comfort to me. My torso can't take an underwire bra. I feel it is cutting into my rib bones. It's a delima to me for sure. So the answer is no I'd much prefer to not need a bra.
I love hearing all of the responses ladies.

I'm happy being flat (a relative term, I know... I'm about A-B cup). I was kind of afraid to gain cup sizes when I went on BCP, and I'm really glad I didn't (crossing fingers and toes it stays this way).

I don't want anymore than what I already have. I'm acutely aware of all the downsides related to larger sizes, both in terms of lifestyle and sartorial/ fit issues. I have a short torso and wide hips, and I simply feel I don't have space for any more voluminous flapping bits. I feel very feminine with my lower body curves, so that's not an issue either.
I'm used to my small chest size and I'm grateful.

My bras make me look larger than I really am (molded cups fit me the best), and it annoys me a bit.

About exercise. I don't jog anymore, but I'm fairly active with other sports, and I really don't wish for anymore bouncing bits.

I have, in the past, often wished for larger breasts. I was very thin most of my life with a rectangle shape (would be happy to go back to that, hello I'm too lazy to jog in the morning! LOL) and received lots of comments/criticisms about how I had no boobs, I looked like a boy, etc, etc. This lasted well into my late 20s, so yes, I did wish I had larger boobs for appearance reasons. OTOH, I was always well aware that some of my athletic activities were much, much more pleasant without them. When I was young, I remember this one poor girl in my horse back riding class (this was before sports bras were common). I swear the poor thing gave herself a black eye.

Then I discovered properly fitting bras and also padded bras. Now if I want cleavage, I can have it. When I don't, well, I don't! My SIL got a breast lift and augmentation in her late 30s and encouraged me to do same. I passed. I'd rather have my options.

No. Luckily i have broad shoulders which tend to camouflage my 34E's. Even still, i got a fair amount of harassment about them when younger - apparently simply having larger breasts means you are some kind of nympho-slut combination. And it's not fun to deal with that type of stuff (from women as well as men) when you're just wearing a tank top like everybody else because it's 95 F out.

i know it's not in the spirit of the thread, but when it comes to my body fantasies no more asthma, or no more neuropathy (which requires me to take serious meds just to function semi-normally), takes up a lot more of my mind-space. And, joining the TMI crowd, re:breasts i always put more emphasis on my own sensation rather than how they looked. I can't imagine having surgery to look better when there's a risk of losing the whole fun of them! They've sagged since i was 16 but that's what bras are for. steph

I'm always late to the party--this thread and to boobs---I wish I had boobs earlier. I think mine grew for 6 hours when I was 17 and another 3 hours when I was 21 and shifted their address within their postal code a bit after nursing 3 kids (2 yrs apart), when I was 42. I think pregnancy and nursing did my tiny (in the sticky outty way except for nipples a la Jonsey) but broad (kind of dense north/south) girls good. I was devastated at first after weening the baby but they've inflated a bit and are somewhat perky and only really need support when I go down stairs. And the nursing fixed the "pointing my way" (as my Mom called it), they still need to be wrangled sometime.
It was weird experiencing cousins 3 and 5 yrs younger than me growing up, developing, seeing their relationships change as I sorta stayed in my 9 yr old limbo until basically everyone was off to college.
I wish the genes that gave my other grown up female family members beauty, grace and speed would have at least given me some boobs with the speed! =+P

I've just read through this whole thread -- some *hilarious* answers! I have two additional comments:

- from a fashion standpoint at least, it seems to me that smallish breasts are actually easier -- that is, they are easier to dress.

- must chime in and say that pregnancy and breastfeeding didn't change my breasts that much. They are perhaps a little softer, but not lower and they are still full and round. If we're venturing into TMI territory, I'll add that I've always had trouble with hormone sensitivity; my breasts swell up a cup size by the end of the month, and are tender. It's annoying. But I noticed that after my surgery, when my ovaries went on strike for a couple of weeks, my breasts absolutely DEFLATED! All my bra cups were loose. Upside: smaller boobs! Downside: boobs were not full and perky any more. Sadly, they've gone back to normal, but it gave me a little glimpse of what menopause is going to be like. What I'm saying is that while pregnancy and breastfeeding don't exactly improve most people's boobs, it doesn't always trash them. I think the drop in hormones post-menopause is the bigger contributor to their, er, southward migration. Unless you breastfeed eight babies. ;-)

Just saying this in encouragement for those gals who want to have babies but haven't done it yet. Everyone's different, but....it's not necessarily the death of your figure!

LOL. You all are too funny.

I'd love to be a bit smaller. Even at a 32 C/D, I often have difficulty finding shirts that don't pull or wearing coats with high-cut armholes.

In my wish-fulfillment fantasy, I'd add 2 inches to my short waist and drop a cup size.

:)

Nope. I've always been happy with my size, which is neither too big or too small!

Una, you crack me up!

But to answer the question: So get this - I never wanted big boobs, but it did occur to me at one point it would be nicer to be slightly more filled out.

Well, I found out I was in the wrong bra size (shops so rarely carry my size). So magically, in a nano and without surgery, I went down a size in band and up one in cup - and now I have everything I've ever wanted. I am more filled out without having changed anything. LOLOLOL!

I sometimes wish they were more evenly sized and perkier, but I generally don't worry about it too much. Perhaps if I were smaller I'd feel differently, but I'm already big enough as it is without adding extra large boobs, too!

Sorry to jump in, but Jonesy got me. Same issues here. I found these at Nordstrom and they are fabulous for bras that don't have enough coverage.

I read somewhere once that the majority of augmentations are performed on women with a rectangle type body. So it's not just about wanting bigger breasts, it's also a desire for more curves, and breasts are a way to add curves. At least, up to now. Butt implants are growing in popularity.

As for myself, no thanks. I have at times thought I was too small, then too big. Right now I wouldn't mind being a little smaller, then I could wear crew neck tops without looking a little "big" or matronly.
