It depends on how I feel. If it's humid or I feel swollen everything comes off literally as I'm walking through the house...rings, necklace, bra, purse, shoes, etc.

In the winter I tend to leave my wedding ring on all the time along with a small chain.

Right now I'm swollen on prednisone for a health issue so I'm lucky to make it into the driveway without tearing my clothing and jewelry off and getting into sweats.

This is a fascinating peak at habits and customs. Not that I am nosy or anything ;-).

I wear my simple gold wedding band 24/7, unless there is some reason to remove it.

I wear hypoallergenic stud earrings (one in each ear) 24/7, because if I go without them for a day or two the holes grow back ! (and this is after 25 years of pierced ears).

All watches, jewelery, or non-stud earrings get removed ASAP, sometimes on the way home.

I so rarely wear jewelry. I can't wear my wedding ring or any jewelry when training or working (weightlifting & cooking respectively) so I actually have to think to put it on. This bothers my husband sometimes but there is nothing I can do about it! I figure my clothing choices make up for my lack of jewelry wearing.

I frequently take all my rings off at home. I also take off my wedding and engagement rings when I work out, which is almost daily, and I sometimes forget to put them back on. Sometimes I leave my engagement ring off because in some settings it just feels like too much jewelry.

People are so interesting !

It depends for me. I never take off my wedding ring unless it interferes with something or I might damage it ( scrubbing the tub abrasives ). I never take off earrings unless they are big and bulky. I will take off watches that are not waterproof, otherwise, they stay on.

All jewelry except wedding band comes off at bedtime. I do take off my diamond engagement ring; just not the gold wedding band that goes with it. I also take off my diamond engagement ring and wristwatch when washing dishes or doing other chores that involve water and/or cleaning products.

Typically larger or heavier earrings come off at home; necklaces and bracelets likewise. I sometimes keep rings on and smaller earrings too, right up to bedtime.

My wedding ring is really a placeholder for the real delicate engagement and wedding rings I originally had, but it usually stays on except when I'm washing up or getting into food prep (I get my hands in food a lot for mixing and rubbing and tossing) --- largely because it's just a tad loose and slips off when wet. It therefore comes off for showers and baths as well.

Well look at that -- I'm not alone after all! Lots of quick-to-ditch-jewellery types out there. :-)

And I just realized that I was mistaken. I don't take everything off when I get home. I forgot about my "other" earrings -- the collection of little silver hoops that live in all but the bottom holes. I never take those out. I don't think I've changed them in years. It's not like they're in the way or I can even feel them there. They're like tattoos -- you sort of forget you have them.

ETA: Claire, your comment about how you nearly drank your earrings made me snort with laughter.

I take off all my jewelry except earrings. I wear my diamond studs 95% of time and they are screw backs and stay on all the time.

I never took my wedding set off until I broke my hand (4 places and dislocated two fingers) and now it swells (4 years later) at end of day so it feels better to take off rings. DH is ok with it. My engagement ring was his mom's and i have two bands - one is the original and one is a vintage band I got for tenth anniversary.

This is a fascinating thread to me!!

I never take my wedding band off.

I do not have an engagement band or ring. My mother gave me hers, and perhaps if i had been in the habit of taking it off more regularly it would have lasted longer. The diamond fell out of the 60 year old setting one night this winter - lost forever. I am still saddened by this.

I wear my watch most of the time; tend to take it off before bed.

Earrings stay on until bedtime. I will leave small hoops and studs in overnight.

I rarely wear necklaces or bracelets. When I do, they come off when it is time to put on loungewear.

If accessories are the type to "bother" me and make me want to take them off when I walk in the door, then they are probably more accessory than I can handle.

My wedding set, diamond stud earrings and gold bracelet stay on almost 24/7. I do take them all off and clean them at least once a week, and I remove them if I am doing something hazardous to them. Necklaces or a watch or RHR or anything else comes off immediately when I walk in the door, but those three things stay on almost constantly, and I get a shock of panic whenever I notice one of them is not on - sometimes even when I am holding them and cleaning them!

I get pretty used to taking jewelry off--- I used to work with my hands around power tools, and couldn't wear anything (I'd sometimes wear a watch with a plastic band, depending on the task)---- now the type of work I do limits what I can wear when I have to do certain tasks. As a rule though, a watch and low-profile wedding band is the limit to jewelry that is below the chest-- earrings and shorter necklaces aren't a problem. Sometimes the watch and ring has to come off too, other times I could wear a long dangly necklace and leather cuff so long as I'm prepared to take it off if something comes up.

Everything comes off if I'm really cooking, cleaning, yard work, painting, using pastels, ect.

I probably sound really silly, but the first thing I do when I come home is wash my hands and then sanitize all the things I touch a lot when I've been out (phone, ect). I try to keep the germs outside of my home, so I don't have to worry so much about touching things like my face when I'm at home, or touching various handles and surfaces while doing food prep, ect (because of my cruddy immune system). My watch and other daily jewelry I wear on my hands and wrists can all be submerged and it gets a good scrub with my hands. Rings and bracelets I occasionally wear with soft stones or leather, ect usually comes off at this point. So do necklaces that are dangly or that slide around that I was touching all day and will probably continue to touch without thinking about it.

I do occasionally like the people I live with to see me in real clothing and in jewelry (since I have a lot of gifts and I like the givers to see them worn!). Hence, earrings and my watch stay on till I'm in PJs or bed for the night or until I shower. I have one pair of studs that I often shower and sleep in.

My medical alert jewelry stays on all the time, although I do alternate back and forth between a pendant and a bracelet or two.

When I was engaged I was always taking the ring off because I found it uncomfortable, easy to get dirty, and hard to clean. Former FI didn't like that much . . . . probably doesn't say good things about me!

Me too. When I come home I usually "unload" from all that is too much, and often even my clothes (but I wear lounging clothes!). Sometimes I try to keep it all, but I do too many physical chores in the home.

Yesterday I saw a very good documentary filmed in rural China. A field worker weaved her way in muddy roads, digging, pulling plants with her worn out hands, slaving over a large bowl in what seemed like a crowded hallway that turned out to be her "kitchen". Here she was again, in the field, ploughing... yet she wore golden earrings and ornaments in her hair, a cute printed shirt popped from under her battered cardi.

So I was surprised that she was comfortable doing such physical and hard work with accessories on but it's all relative I guess.

Yes I do. I immediately change to loungewear once I get home and all jewelery comes off. I also cannot sleep with any jewelery on. That's why I don't travel with my engagement ring. I'd be too freaked out to leave it behind.

I only take off those things when I change into loungewear/PJs, but I leave my wedding ring on until I go to bed. Then it goes off until I'm out of the shower the next morning :)

EDIT: Actually there is one bit of jewelry I don't take out. I have my ears pierced twice, and the top set usually has diamond studs in it (I change them out occasionally). Those I leave in all the time. If I've worn different earrings for the day, the studs go back in at night.

I usually take my jewelry off when I get home except my wedding ring, watch and couple of silver bagles I always wear. I actually feel weird when I am not wearing any jewelry, like something is missing

I take my wedding rings off when I get home since I often work with my hands and I don't like to have things stuck to them.

I keep my wedding and engagement rings on for everything except when I need to mix or knead things.
Any necklaces tend to come off straight away, but short ones often stay for a few days, or at least to bedtime.

I have found that one of my pairs of earrings is so comfortable and versatile that I just wear them day and night. Other pairs either annoy or get sore, so come off pretty fast (I mostly only wear them when they are gifts and when the giver is around)

My watch I take off to wash dishes, shower and go to bed. And it comes off a lot because the catch isn't strong. In fact I am not sure where it is right now!

I am a take it off gal too. And I often forget to put the wedding ring back on in the morning too... Or even set it someplace in the house and lose it for two weeks on the edge of a bookcase or something. Luckily DH understands

Oh, I've got to check the lefty thread, because I'm a lefty, too! Yay! Ring stays on, but the watch comes off at bedtime. ^_^

p.s. I wear my watch on the right wrist.

me me me! My accessories (including wedding ring and watch) are like my shoes. I take them off first thing I enter my apartment and I put them on last thing before wearing my shoes to leave the apartment.
