Your blog is lovely, Magali!

I've always loved the sailor trend. Then again, I'm a weekend sailor. Sperrys have been a mainstay in my wardrobe for years (As gear, not fashion. I'm still flummoxed by the current trend of patent boat shoes. Patent?)

I like the sailor trend, but on me, not so much. Maybe an aversion for horizontal stripes? But I like nautical color combos such as navy, white, and green.

I enjoyed reading your blog, Magali. Who takes those lovely photos?

I've been eyeing Zara, Martin + Osa, and Gap for the nautical pieces. I'm very into stripes right now, thanks to Angie's recent post.
I have a linen cropped moto jacket (in a beige color) that I plan on trying with wide leg jeans/pants. I also have a lovely cream pleather cropped moto inspired jacket.
Great tips, Magali! I posted a response to your other post, but your photos provide great inspiration. I "favorited" your blog. Keep it up!

Thank you!
I'm just starting my blog and I'm having a lot of fun. I just moved to California from Europe and I need to make some friends that love fashion like I do. It's beautiful to be able to share about a passion. By the way RoseandJoan, mixing patterns like what you described sounds fun, it used to be a delicated thing to do couple years before but this rule is definitely changing! It work better when the two patterns you wish to assemble have absolutely nothing in common: like stripes and flowers. Have fun! Oh and Sarah, wide legs (a bit like 70's period) are really cool and you are smart to not mix the trench directly with the wide leg jeans. The cutest thing is to mix it with a jacket that sits on the waist like a "perfecto". I have 3 of these, one black, another grey and the last made of jeans. I also have another beige jacket (not a perfecto). The colored ones are all leather because I love this material for it easily makes your look fancier.

I've also always loved nautical inspired fashion. I do plan on wearing wide leg jeans this year (instead of sailor pants) and some striped tops, as well as a white trench (not with the jeans, heh).

I've always loved nautical inspired fashion. I used to have one of the striped tee shirts (very similar to your sweater) that was part of the Disneyland costume for the operators of the sailing ship Columbia- and I won't say how I got it

Welcome to the forum

That is a fantastic look and I really like your blog. I'm going to wear my striped top with my new flower print tulip skirt for a take on Proenza Schouler's pattern clash look. I'm going to add my boyfriend balzer and ballet falts to tone down the look.

It’s been rainy lately so I finally had to take out my sailor sweater! What a great pattern! I love it especially when the stripes are thin. Can you name two designers that really love the sailor stripes? Maybe Jean Paul Gaultier and… Coco Chanel yes miss! She did at her beginning of her carrier. She dared to wear those sweaters as a revolt to the actual trends and rules at the time. It has a masculine connotation because only sailors would wear these but you can easily make it look more feminine. Juts add heels, a belt at the waist, maybe a small scarf and a cute bag! Oh and I purposely played with the béret here. A béret will keep your head warm and protected as well as bring a cute and fun touch. I also wanted to talk about the wool coat I am wearing. I absolutely love this coat. The color is of a really light beige, easily matching a lot of outfits. The special aspect of it is the fringe. I know it reminds you of some indian look but in this case, the rest of the coat is cut well enough, and it is simple enough to be tastefull and very classy. It is almost a mix with a poncho. I don’t know if you noticed but long drapped pieces of fabric give a mystical and elegant attitude. I am a big fan…
