She's the one who's been taking pictures of me this past week, so she knows about the forum in very broad strokes. <br />I had one friend who was very down on both her luck and finances and had literally nothing to wear except ratty jeans and t-shirts that were entirely too big. I took her shopping and kitted her out with a few basics, and I was able to offer silhouette and colour advice based on the forum and let her state some other preferences. When she found jeans that fit to perfection, she cried. It was an amazing experience. <br />Apart from that no one asks the blind girl for style advice IRL (perfectly reasonable), but a couple of people in my apartment building have mentioned that they consistently like my clothes, or made lovely comments like "looking great as usual." Stuff like that. As a matter of fact, I have to tone it down and not look like I would be interested . The women I work with right now act like I'm a fashion oracle; little do they know I'm near the bottom of the totem pole around these parts... heh heh. One in particular has started bringing hard to wear items into work to get an opinion on them! They have also commented on how I 'dress up every day' and that was during my 14-piece austerity capsule, which I find amusing. How can someone wearing the same 4 tee shirts over &amp; over again possibly be dressing up??? The only odd look I've gotten is when I told them about Janet mailing me those red shoes from back east. They looked seriously nonplussed for a few minutes but when I explained it's like a craigslist for clothes within a fashion forum they got it. And my special ed kids just love variety in clothes &amp; seeing someone dressed up, period. I have one young woman who literally jumps for joy when she gets off the bus &amp; sees that I have my shiny red shoes on. And another little guy gets excited when we have 'matching' plaid shirts. When I did a closet purge recently I gave my grey checked dress to her because the fit was off on me and I thought it might be better on her. And it looks fantastic! I knew she didn't have shoes to wear the dress right now because so far she's only been wearing skirts with sandals (in summer). Then a few days later I got some pictures from her - she shopped for boots for the dress and found these booties,<b> </b>which<b> bookend her hair</b>! </p> <p>Did you ever (knowingly or unknowingly) impart YLF wisdom to your environment? </p>
