I do tend to get distracted (no surprise there!) I don't keep a running list of gift ideas throughout the year - although I wish that I did! My husband is very much into gift-giving - he is alway completely done with his holiday shopping by August. So far, his really great habit has not rubbed off on me! I'm last minute - and therefore end up spending more than what I intended. (And ADD - the perfect description for my shopping style anytime of the year!)

I only buy a present for my boyfriend, something for my parents, and then my siblings and I do a Kris Kindle or Secret Santa. It saves so much trouble and stress. Occasionally I also buy a small present for a close friend.

The Christmas rush has already started at work but that is to be expected in a bicycle shop anyway.

I have kept a Christmas shopping list for years. How else can you remember what you gave to whom? Nobody's memory is THAT good!

My shopping is simplified because of this list. I buy only for my mom and MOL..
My siblings decided years ago to exchange cards and enjoy time together during the holidays - that's the best gift of all.

Of course, I buy a gift or two for my son and hubby - always something they REALLY want, never anything overly useful or boring.

I keep it simple. One or two things for the significant other and we have no kids. We are almost always working on holidays so there are no family gatherings to attend and buy for. I often get him a warm winter clothing item (coat, cashmere sweater, designer cords) since he never likes me to buy clothes for him at any other time of year. He is quite the picky one when it comes to his clothes, I've found ;)

Oh, and he invariably gets me *another* pj set! I've told him I have a plenty large pajama wardrobe but he delights in finding fuzzy cozy cute sets with slippers and all.

I am really focused, but I keep it simple. I usually do a handmade gift for my parents, and then we buy games for my three nephews. The kids usually get a stocking and one large gift, and that's it. This year, I told dh I want to do season passes to an amusement park instead of gifts for the kids. Of course- the best part of shopping is buying my own gifts. seriously- I gave up a long time ago on trying to get Dh into shopping for me. We are both much happier when I shop for myself. I get what I want and I don't feel bad for spending more or less on his gifts than what he got me, and I am out shopping for the kids anyway.

I've been pretty good this year. Me and shopping friend went out on Monday and did a mega christmas shop at Merry Hill (huge shopping centre about an hour away). We were there 5 hours and I've pretty much got my done bar my grandparents. I had a list with who I had to buy for and a couple of ideas. I only strayed a little, a snood for myself and some loungewear (can I claim they are early christmas presents to myself? x

Megan, you are so smart to keep this list - I need to start something like this too!
I don't have much holiday shopping to do as we are trying to keep this to the minimum and our family here is quite limited but when I do I stay focused.

I'm pretty good. I use an app on my Iphone to keep track of present ideas for people throughout the year, so when my boyfriend says "wow, wish i had a spice grinder" I put a note in the app and then buy from that list when special occasions arise.

I also have a Xmas shopping app that lets you list the people you need to buy for and set a per person budget.

My best friend and I have this traditional that we do our Christmas shopping together and the goal is to get everything on our lists before we have to pay for parking at the shopping centre (usually 3 hours). It's hilarious, a little like the Amazing Race of gift shopping.

While holiday shopping, do you stick to a strict list or does your focus stray (ie 'something for me, something for Aunt Margaret')?
