It does more to "wake up" my face than anything else I might use. If I'm only wearing lip color, I like something colorful but sheer most of the time. I only wear lipstick when the rest of my face is also made up. I think it looks odd on me to have only lipstick on, but I can see it working for others. I hate the taste of lipstick and lip gloss, and it somehow looks overpowering on me, and I rarely use. I just don't like the way it feels on my skin. But I almost always have some sort of lip gloss or tinted balm on, and sometimes moisturizing lipstick with no other makeup -- but in a color that is very close to my natural lip color anyway. I don't think it looks too weird. Oddly, I have found that the best concealer for my inherited under-eye bags is wearing glasses. About once a week I go out with just lipgloss, but I do find it can pick up the red tones in my skin so I might put a little mineral powder on too, similar to Irene. And I've gone without it for most of my life. I find my face needs 'color' accessories when I wear contacts, but my full make-up is quite minimal anyways (concelaer under-eyes, some light eyeshadow -hard to see but it lightens up my face-, light mascara, mineral powder and a rosy lipstick. I've added some rosy blush lately but don't love how it looks on me). I find that thermal water spray helps A LOT when you want the make-up to look like it's your natural complexion. It's amazing, and good for your skin! Like Isabel, I have horrid undereye circles --- except mine will NOT remain hidden and have refused to be soothed into submission in the last 24 years! Eye shadow makes me look like a battered woman, mascara is risky (can lead to raccoon eyes as I tend to forget I'm wearing any!) I choose to simply ignore my eyes and let them speak for themselves most of the time ; the rest of the time, when we're on talking terms, I'll use a little eyeliner. I haven't used blush or powder in at least a decade! Concealer/primer and foundation for a very special occasion (once a year or so?) is about as far as I manage to do.
