Thanks for the thumbs up everyone! Claire, I'll have to try the fake french cuff with safety pins, the lining is too slippery to stay in place : ) I like the idea though.

I'll wear it tonight!

Unfrumped, we crossposted. I like that idea. The only purse I have similar to that is a python, which I think would clash, rather than mix, with the blouse pattern though. Maybe not.

.......Oh, just remembered a small brown suede purse with leopard print flap. It is basically a small clutch with a short gold chain strap. I think that will work!

I think those proportions are good. You could also go shorter if you have a reason to--meaning, if other aspects of a shorter jacket fit you better or you liked one, or whatever. But not because this one does not work--I like it.

Oh, I am already imagining other accessories to go with the great color combo you have going. I like to add a "warmer" , natural-toned accessory color such as warm luggage tan purse ( I guess we are challenged to think of using a clutch!) to contrast with the cool colors--I think Angie gave us that tip on how it takes some of the sweetness and predictability out of the color scheme, and I have found it works well for necklaces, purses, shoes ( and of course any element of the outfit, really, depending on what's what) when I am combining red and black, magenta and gray, or similar .

Isn't YLF great for giving outfit ideas? This is terrific! I love that blazer with the skirt. The proportions totally work to my eye. Love the blouse with it too. Can you fold the cuffs up once and do the *fake french cuff* trick to shorten them if you want to wear them down?

I think the proportions of the jacket look good with the skirt. I like the navy and magenta color combination.

A big thumbs up! That looks great!
I've had those "Doh!" moments, too, when I've discovered great combinations right in my own closet thanks to the inspiration here. Isn't YLF the best?

This looks great! Isn't YLF great for pushing us to try things we wouldn't have thought to try before? I think the proportions are good (aside from maybe getting those sleeves shortened but you can wear them cuffed/scrunched for now). If you have a chunky bracelet (so it stands out a little) or watch that would be nice to add.

Thanks Ceit and Shiny. So you think the fit and proportions of the jacket are ok with the skirt?

I love it! But you could probably guess I would. :-)

My initial reaction was "wow, that's the Gap academy blazer?" Did not recognize it. Adding a skirt, rather than predictable jeans, ups the whole tone of that blazer.

Sorry to start yet another thread but my event is soon and I thought I'd have an easier time getting responses with a new thread rather than adding on to my old one.

In my thread about the Gap academy blazer, http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....emy-blazer
Texstyle asked if it works with other things in my closet. It was ordered primarily as a neutral for pants, but her question prompted me to try it with my new pencil skirt. Shiny's pink AT skirt/navy blouse combo was the inspiration for pulling out my dark blue AT top. Both kind of "doh!" moments as I embarrassingly admit I wouldn't have thought of those combinations on my own.

Do the proportions of the jacket work with the skirt? To my eye they do, but I don't have enough confidence to know if I should have gone with the petite or if this does indeed work.

The sleeves probably do need to be shortened as they are too long uncuffed.

Thanks!
