Thank you!!!

ChrisM: thanks for the suggestion of an insole! These shoes have a removable insole, and could use a little extra support. I didn't think of that

The Important thing is comfort. No one will notice the creases. I am another size 8 who wears 38-40 in Euro sizes. Go for what feels right. Size is just a number.

Although I am officially a 37, with shoes I go for comfort and wear anything from a European 36-39. Italian shoes seem to run a bit differently than other shoes in my experience and I often take a larger, but sometimes smaller, size in them.

If you put in an insole, it will help fill in the boot vamp and the creasing will be minimized. I have to size up for shoes with pointy toes, and an insole helps the shoe to fit better overall.

Good luck!

You have a lot of company in the detail perfectionist department. I do a lot of internet shopping now but one of the things I used to like about in store shopping was being able to try on several (many) of the same exact item to make sure I was getting the absolute best one the store had.

Thank you for .your replies. I'm definitely over-thinking this- I tend to be an obsessive perfectionist with little details like this.

I agree with Isabel. I find European sizing a bit inconsistent. I wear an 8 or 8.5 in American sizes, and I have found that I can range from a 38 to 40 in European sizes.

The crease looks like it's the boot breaking in where your foot bends, which seems normal to me. If you have a low volume foot the creasing might be more pronounced but in a shoe without laces to tighten the width, that's normal too.

Shoe sizing varies with manufacturers but honestly, during the time when I had the most experience with this, European sizes were plus 31, so a size 8 would be 39.

I can't emphasize enough what a bad idea it is to wear uncomfortable shoes

I wouldn’t wear any shoes that pinch your toes. As for sizing, there are variations. I wear a US 9 or 9.5, and have EU sized shoes in 39.5, 40, and even 41, so don’t worry about the exact number. You might try using a shoe tree in between wearings to remove the crease.

Hello,

I bought some Italeau pointed toe boots , and I'm confused about the sizing. I'm generally a size 8 (but edging towards an 8.5). I ended up deciding on the italeau Perla suede booties in a 39, which Italeau says is a 9! The 38.5 felt like it was pinching my toes. The 39 feels comfortable, but does make my feet look longer, but I suppose that's the look, or am I meant to jam my foot into these?

I wore the 39 one day, and I notice there is already a slight crease forming. Does this mean they were too big? Please see the attached photo, my finger is resting where my big toe is. Is that creasing normal for this type of shoe?

I also notice a lot of European brands say a 39 is an 8... I'm so confused.
