I was at Nordstrom this weekend asking about stretching Munro shoes and the SE told me that you get a small amount of extra room because of the fabric lining.

I am particularly jealous of the fact you found them in a wide width . My feet are wide and I do own a pair of SE Pettys. I would not say SE's run narrow nor are they particularly generous. They are average. If a shoe is available in WW I get size 9. When this is not the case a 9.5 works best for me. My SE Pettys are a 9.5. Depending on whether you have long toes you might want to try the WW a half size smaller than you would normally get. If your toes are long -- forget it. Wait for your size to become available.

Mine are only tight across the base of the toe area. The style has an added layer of leather here inside the shoe, making it difficult to stretch in the stiffer leather because you are working with two layers rather than one

I think a wide will work. I wear a wide and found the wide width snug in the toebox. Mine were the suede style.

I have a wide foot, but have been comfortable in my first pair of Pettys in a M. As mentioned above they are suede, so had more give than leather. I just purchased my second pair which are leather in a W and they are very roomy. I wear them with medium weight socks. I wonder if I could also wear a W in a half size smaller.

Pretty much what Joy said. I have both shoes, normal width feet, and they both felt initially narrow in the toe box. The Pettys are soft suede and adapted to my foot. The python not as much, and I really should get them stretched. I would think it is worth a try if you can return.

I have the SE Pettys in the textured leather Python and the suede leather Putty. The Pythons feel more narrow in the base of toe area than the Puttys, but their leather is heavier and stiffer. I have a medium width foot and think a wide would be just right. I have had mine stretched to try to gain more room. The length feels true to size. If I buy a third pair I will try a wide. Go for it.

I have a narrow foot and my Pettys fit beautifully. Worth a try.

I think they would be worth trying. I have an average width foot and find the suede Pettys a little on the snug side. I don't think I've ever purchased a wide shoe but would definitely be open to a little more width in the pair I have--I'd probably wear them a whole lot more!

Found one color of the Sam Edelman Pettys, boots of great renown, on significant sale because they're almost sold out of sizes. My size is available but only in a wide. I don't normally buy wides but mostly because I don't buy brands that offer them. I wouldn't call my feet particularly narrow, so I'm wondering if they might work anyway, and whether those of you that own a pair think it'd be worth the bother to try them. Thanks.
