I dared the flats - and was okay. I wore peds and was behind the bar most of the time, rather than running on the floor. They are the Dr Scholl's flats with pretty good footbeds and arch support, too.
My dayshift I was running all over the pub, but I was in sneakers.
Some of my banquet coworkers were really hot (it was 80 in the clubhouse at the start) so I was happy with my choice of skirt. Don't think I'd try the flats on a regular basis, but I got away with it this time lol. Good to know for future reference ;)

I could wear ballet flats for miles so of walking and hours of standing all I have to do is add a good arch support.
I would go with what is going to keep your feet happy this time and maybe shop for alternatives to sneakers that would meet all comfort requirements for next time.

If your black pants are loose, I'd vote for the sneaker outfit. If you want to try the skirt and ballet flats, go for it. Wear the most supportive flats you own. Then bring the sneakers as back up. It's not the worst thing if you have sneakers and a skirt and by the end of the night everyone will have had several drinks already so they most likely wouldn't judge you. ;-)

Id go sneakers. When I had to wear a skirt and be on my feet for hours I had some simple black mary jane Ecco flats. Not the most stylish, but works with skirts and me feet didnt hate me. More support than ballets.

I'll have to maybe throw them on after shift tonight and walk around for an hour to see. I'm more worried my toes will get sore than the soles of my feet themselves. I do have those little ped liners I could try too.
I definitely can't wear big black clunky sneakers with the skirt, though. No question.

Will guests really see your feet when you bartend? I would take a couple pairs of shoes so you can switch back and forth as needed. Maybe secret socks with the Vedas?

I find also just changing shoes is a bit of a break. I would probably risk it in the hopes of staying cool (I hate being sweaty).

The Dr. Scholl's I've tried on seemed really comfy to me. I know my Crocs flats are very nice relief just by the nature of placing pressure on different parts of the foot... might be nice after already working one shift?

yeah, I'm torn on whether it will be a nice change to put on the flats after I finish my pub shift in sneakers, or if that will make for a loooong night. I have maybe half an hour between the 2 shifts to change and/or put my feet up.

I think a cream flat with black skirt sounds like an option. Only if you can get through the event though without your feet rebelling. I am searching for flats that go with pencil skirts myself. Skirts are def. cooler than pants!

I have a wedding to bartend at the golf course tomorrow. I always wear sneakers (or in winter flat boots) to work. I always wear socks. I am on my feet and running around, sometimes up to 10 miles or more.
Problem is, weddings we wear black and whites and it's been hot. My black and whites are long pants and a long sleeved shirt. I was thinking of wearing a black skirt for relief, but that means flats. Either my zipper black ones, or the more comfy Dr. Scholl's cream ones. I wonder if I'll just be trading one discomfort for another?
Would you gamble on flats for a cooler skirt or stick with pants and know your black sneakers won't hurt you?
