Ha thanks Suntiger! I am feeling, the more I think about it, that maybe it’s ridiculous to do that. And on the other hand I am still trying to wear everything else as per Sal’s challenge. So not sure yet.
Karen13, those rust embroidered ones are stunning!

I have these cinnamon embroidered Basels and find them true to size in length and roomy in width. They are pretty comfortable. I don’t wear them that often because the color isn’t that prevalent in my wardrobe so can’t comment on durability but I like them a lot.

Thanks Laura. It is important, although wearing for work I am mostly sitting down so as long as they don’t actually hurt it’s probably OK. But good to know.

I like Lucky shoes but I don’t think they’re particularly supportive. If comfort is important to you I wouldn’t necessarily make a big effort to source them from overseas.

Thanks everyone. That’s a good idea Brooklyn, hubby has a PayPal account I could use. I am still thinking about whether I need them that badly or would they split wears too much with my other boots. Sometimes I get these obsessions and then sort of come to my senses.

I have found them to be TTS for American sizing anyway. They’re usually pretty nice. I have a couple of pairs currently.

I agree you should err on the side of the larger size. An insole could be good with them. They’re nice boots but not super padded or shock absorbing and an insole could help with that.

Nordstrom ships from all over the US. I’ve received things from stores, and from warehouses in various locations, in the midwest somewhere, and the southwest.

Nearly everything I buy, I buy online. We have a Macy’s, but it carries a fraction of what they have online. And Nordstrom is over 100 miles away. However, I try to avoid return shipping costs. Nordstrom is free (for us, anyway), and things that I get delivered from Macy’s, I can return in person.

Great boots! And I don’t think you missed out on the laced ones, they read more hiking shoe or practical nursing wear to me. I’m going to look into the Luckys myself, actually - heading to Nordies today.
That said, ordering shoes online is risky IMHO, because a bad fit can actually be painful. And I’m just not willing to pay to try things on.

Hi Jenni. Do you have a paypal account? If you decide to order them make sure you activate refunded returns on your PayPal account and pay with PayPal. That way, if they don’t work out and you have to return them you can claim the cost of returning them from PayPal. You still lose the delivery cost but it’s not quite so bad when you can get the return cost back

I love these boots Jenni and agree with JAileen - err larger if there is doubt.

I think ankle boots in a low heel are a no brainer and will get tons of wear. It is a nice colour- neutral but different.

I have bought from the US online and it worked out fine - I paid for the delivery. The price seems fair too.

I think it’s better to err on the big side than the small side. I would adjust the fit by the thickness of the socks, or maybe with an insole.

Hi I'm still looking at these. I've measured my feet standing, with both big toes next to the tape measure with my heel against the wall, they seem to be almost exactly 23 cm long on both feet, which is not quite 9 inches on the other side of the tape measure. And I've looked at the sizes of all my shoes. There is only one 35, loafers which needed stretching, one 35/36 which is jandals ( flip-flops), nothing squeezing the feet, rest mostly 36s. Nordstrom's size chart actually says 36 is a 6, and it says that a 6.5 is a 36.5. I saw that about 3 of my shoes are 37s, which also fit me. Of the UK brand shoes, of which I have three all Clark's, the sandals are a 3, the Oxfords are a 4 and just a titch tight to get on though fine to wear, and the low heels are a 4.5 D. A US 6.5 is a UK 4.5 according to Nordstrom's. As the Steve Madden's fit well as a 6.5, and they are the closest in style to these boots, I'm thinking I'd be best to try a 6.5 as more of the reviews said they ran small? If they were 6.5 running small then that might be just right. The 37 ( US 7 according to Nordstrom) in Jeffrey Campbell that I tried just over a year ago

https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....hese-boots

were definitely too big because I remember being very sad!
What do you think? 6.5? Do Nordstrom items ship from Seattle or elsewhere? There is no 6 or 6.5 on Amazon sadly, but there is at Nordstrom. I think, you know, if they are as pictured I could easily wear them 40 times over a couple of years to get to under $5 per wear, because I essentially wear boots for about 6 months at least, April-October and often later, then mostly go straight to sandals. And as well as my olive snakeskin pants I have a lot of other olive things including tops and a long cardigan.
I appreciate all your help and thank you in advance for putting up with hearing the cm and inches measurement of my feet!

Thank you Donna, actually the other pair I ordered from the US the once was a 5.5, the vintage pair I wore to Art Deco weekend and I am consigning them for really being too tight. So am now decided thanks to you and Suzanne it should be a 6 rather than a 5.5. I do wear socks with all my boots too and as I say the Steve Maddens are 6.5 but slightly loose. There was no other size when I got those in DSW in 2013 in Union Square San Francisco and I fell for those with a crash that could be heard for miles. Since I’m still wearing those it was a good buy...

Jenni, both booties are gorgeous! As to the reviews on sizing: I'm wondering if small/TTS/large depends on which end of the size scale you are. For example, small sizes may run large and large sizes run small (or the reverse). In the reviews of bras on bratabase.com, they always have the reviewer specify the exact band and cup size since the make and model's sizing may differ along the size range.

FWIW, I tend to take a smaller sandal size than closed shoe because I have short toes and a teeny tiny heel. With closed shoes I may add various inserts which take up room. With my exercise shoes I size up even more due to my super thick Thorlo socks plus inserts.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts. Yes Suzanne I found the same with the reviews that some said small some large and some TTS. I have the same as you actually that a pair of my sandals and one pair loafers are actually smaller, and my Steve Maddens are a 6.5 so maybe I’d be better with a 6 for these boots. Easier to wear an insole like I do with my Steve Maddens than have them tight.
Also thank you KKards for the find and J’Aileen for finding them on Amazon! I will muse on what to do more throughout today.

I don't have any Luckys, but FYI as a Euro 36 and occasional 35.5 or even 35 depending on brand, I take a 6 in closed shoes like this (and regular/M/B in width). For me, 5.5 is for sandals.

I don't really know why we sometimes have to shop with two sizes in mind, but it might be the socks factor? I used to order sandals in 6 all the time until I wised up.

ETA: Just glanced at a few of the reviews and hmm, some say they run small, some say they run large, the site says true to size... I dunno!

The green snake looks really fun, I must say!

I have two pairs of these boots. I’ve had them both for at least 4 years. They have worn like iron and I can wear them all day. One pair is a 7 and one is 7.5 . I don’t notice much difference. I generally put insoles in my shoes . I also have the Lucky Baley bootie that is a size 7 also comfortable.
My daughter who lives in Brooklyn and walks everywhere has the Basel in burgundy suede.

Thank you J'Aileen and Joy, good to know you have actual Basel ones J'Aileen. Reviews were a bit mixed on the sizing and returning to the USA would be a real hassle and cost money. Many of the reviews were extremely positive but not all. I suppose ordering from Nordstrom would mean they would credit me if I DID have to return, then the whole thing would cost me whatever the shipping is both ways... which is not very good for the environment. Why can't I find what I want here! Too fussy!

I.ove the green too. I have had Lucky boots ina pewter metallic for at least a couple of years. They are very comfortable in my regular size, even with light weight socks. Mine have zippers like the first pair you show, No laces.

I have a pair of Lucky Basel booties in toffee. I usually wear sz 10, and they fit just fine. They are reasonably comfortable. I love the green.

Hi there, I am not likely to actually do this but...I have been searching all over NZ and on Australian sites for the perfect (to me) olive booties. There were some lovely ones I saw in April ( will add photos from my phone) but hesitated because they were lace-ups and I prefer zips, I find lace-ups fussy. They did fit perfectly and were beautiful soft leather. I saw that the store was having a closing-down sale recently and enquired but my size was gone.
I thought I would check US sites just to see- Nordstrom has these Lucky brand Basel booties which look just what I want, 2 zips, and the perfect colour olive snakeskin to match my olive snakeskin pants! ( I tried to do a Find but don't seem able to). The cost is NZ $205 which is about what we often have to pay for booties anyway (not always, as I am good at getting on sale) and then I would have to pay for shipping, and they could not be guaranteed to fit. I would also have to wear them over 40 times to get to my preferred $5 or under per wear. So it is probably stupid... I have only once shipped from the US to NZ either but I know that other Fabbers in NZ and Australia have done it.
So just in case, do any of you have Lucky boots, are they true to size? I am a US 5.5 usually I think- Euro size 36 is my best size.
Also you are welcome to bring me to my senses- too many shoes, etc etc etc.

Pic 1- the Lucky Basel booties. Pics 2-4, the ones I missed out on, which had laces.
