I have been playing with the idea of spraying a peice with the matellic spray paint but I think you need to do something to break it up first so the fabric doesnt get stiff and ... like stick a piece of lace over it so the imperfection of the finish and any peeling. It could look a bit stiff though afterwards. I sprayed some cushions I had very lightly with gold spray paint in a can. Like a light mist that was rather nice.
