Thanks! I'm going to try adding some beads or possibly also small squares of fabric sewn in to add some more textural interest.

These are so fun! They remind me of a DIY that my granddaughters and I did last summer with old t-shirts - we actually made "necklaces" out of them and they were really cute. I am going to have to pull out some of my hubby's old tees and try this out. They would be a good way to mix casual (t-shirt scarf) with dressy (sparkly top) - don't ya' think?

I saw some of these soft, beaded scarves on a recent shopping trip and thought they would be easy to make. Nice job researching and trying it out. The colors are perfect on you (maybe because they came from your very own T-shirts)!

Lyn, if you do, make sure the tees don't have side seams (usually men's tees don't have seeing on the sides, but fitted ladies tees often do.)

Oh, sorry Ana. RATE is an acronym for "Rough around the edges" - i.e. being stylish but not polished (I think of it as a touch of messy textures, fraying edges, half-tucked tops, but in a very calculated and fashion forward way.)

Thank you! I haven't worn these tees in years but I love the colors & soft, worn fabric, so it's fun to repurpose them. I'm thinking of making some for stocking stuffer gifts for Christmas.

Great job! I love the bright colors and the idea of recycling items you already own. I think I've seen the same kind of thing at Urban Outfitters with little knots tied in the strings.

Also, what's RATE?

Recently someone showed me how to create an infinity scarf from an old tee shirt, and I thought it was a neat idea. Maybe it could add a touch of "RATE" to my wardrobe?
I tried it with two of my old tees and think it could actually be very cute with some seed beads seen in for texture and sparkle.
(Here's a tutorial for the method I used: http://korrinewojcik.blogspot......orial.html My tee shirt was smaller than the men's XL tees used in the tutorial so it hangs a little different.)
Anyway, just wanted to share in case others are interested. Maybe I'll post this on the next weekly link roundup.
