I have a poison eye for baggy bottoms, so I vote to wear them with a belt.

Aida - the hem opening fits fairly well, it's not wider than my leg but not tight either. I understand what you're saying - if the hem opening was wider, they might look more intentionally baggy. The leg opening fits looser when not rolled, but I like the rolled look now. After they've been washed and start to fray, I might wear them unrolled and then they would have a wider hem opening.

Hm how is the leg opening on width? I can't really tell from the photos too well. With the rear view in #3, I'd want the hem opening to be on the wider end so it's obvious that these are "Big Shorts". If the hem opening is slimmer or closer to your legs, then I think the pulled up back view is better so the shorts look like "big shorts". Hopefully that made sense ><

I like them both ways, so there you are! Wear them belted or not, depending on how you feel about it at any particular day.

I like them belted from the rear view but I'd say they are great overall. I just cut off a pair of faded jeans myself and I know Shannon did too so I guess Angie's recent scissor happy post got us all going.

I think they're perfect. You can wear a belt when DH is around and go without it if he's not. Good DIY! (Your figure is looking amazing BTW.)

I like the back better belted, but the length, front view, and side view un-belted. I'm no help!

I think they're fine. I like the belted look better from the back--perfect amount of slouch there. Nice job!

I agree with your hubby the back view looks better belted. Maybe wear them belted when with him or out and about and if doing some gardening / housework then let them sit lower?

I bought a pair of jeans at the thrift store to cut off into shorts. I wanted a baggy boyfriend style but I'm not sure if I was successful. Too baggy or just right? Also, how's the length? DH thought the rear view was a little too baggy.

#1, 2 and 3 - how they hang naturally.
#4 - if I hike them up. I would need a belt to wear them like this.
